7 SEC teams... That'll all change once conference play starts... all the teams start beating each other out...
Yes for staying up ridiculously late! (possibly getting up ridiculously early... which is not so cool...)
1. Texas 2. Cal State Fullerton 3. Tulane 4. S. Carolina 5. LSU 6. Florida 7. Miami 8. Rice 9. TX A&M 10. Vandy 11. GA Tech 12. Arizona 13. Arkansas 14. Florida State 15. North Carolina 16. Stanford 17. Ole Miss 18. Georgia 19. Witchita State 20. ULL 21. Texas Christian 22. USC 23. Baylor 24. Oregon State 25. Nebraska The top 11 I decided on pretty easily, but 12-25 was the tough part. If Tulane loses today, I will probably switch Tulane and S. Carolina. There are teams with great records, but they have cream puff schedules.
Dont believe that USC should be so high, if you look at who all they have played... only team with a winning record is Pepperdine, who beat the Cocks. Arkansas has earned a higher ranking IMO, because they have beat some decent teams, coming away with only 1 loss overall. But overall, this Top 25 is just about as accurate as mine.
South Carolina has used the Penn State method for early season success for a long time...Remember the '00 season, when they ran out to that gaudy record coming into the Box? We won the Friday night game with a bottom of the 9th home run, then won Saturday, only to lose to all-everything Kip Boughknight in the Sunday matinee... They came in riding high...and then got punked out by LSU when the real test came...That series showed LSU they were great, and really proved to be the catalyst for the rest of the season...
I played Middle School Football, and Dixie Youth baseball with Kip, as well as went to Highschool with him (3 years, he was 1 year older than me). He was a good athlete, but I got a sack against him in our rivalry game between our middle school (Busbee and Northside). He is a good athlete, I also went to highschool with Steven Whetstone, another USC pitcher. Kip and Steven failed to win any State Championships (losing in the Semis on Black Sunday as they call it). BC Highschool has gone on to win State '98 (the year after they left), '00, 03', to become one of the premier "farms" for USC and Clemson.
The new Baseball America rankings that came out today... 1. Texas 21-1 2. Cal State Fullerton 14-3 3. Tulane 15-3 4. South Carolina 15-1 5. LSU 14-4 6. Florida 15-4 7. Miami 17-4 8. Texas A&M 15-5 9. Arizona 14-6 10. Ga Tech 16-2 11. Rice 14-5 12. Stanford 11-7 13. North Carolina 11-3 14. Ole Miss 13-3 15. Arkansas 16-1 16. Baylor 11-7 17. Vandy 12-3 18. College of Charleston 13-3 19. ULL 17-2 20. Florida State 21-4 21. Georgia 10-5 22. Oregon State 13-3 23. Nebraska 12-2 24. TCU 12-5 25. East Carolina 11-4
how could anyone possibly try to make a top 25 given no ones seen but their own team minus a couple others? just more proof that people are obsessed with senseless polls. :hihi: :hihi:
