does this mean wanting to score touchdowns hurts your ability to score field goals?

didnt they used to kick off from the 35? that doesnt help nor does the improvement of kickers over the years...or domed stadiums.

i like the full qtr played (if they have to change it) or each team getting a possession.

but i think i heard last week only 3 or 4 of the 20+ postseason ot games were won on the first possession. so its likely a moot point.

no i think it sucks actually. too confusing for the casual fan. most are usually drunk 4 hours in and would think they won whenever they scored.

although i did read a good idea that the sudden death coin flip should be a bid on where to kick-off from.

    that would be cool.

you can be outbid by the other team if they want to kickoff farther back.

I saw a possible revision that was pretty cool. If the coin flip winner kicks a field goal the loser gets a posession. If the loser kicks a field goal to re tie the game it goes to sudden death. If the coin flip winner scores a TD game over. I guess that is pretty much what SF said, but much less concise.

    I'm feeling wordy today.

how bout just eliminate field goals from overtime, and if a TD is scored game over.

That would work but I would apply it only to each teams' 1st possession.

men tend to complicate things. just give each team a turn at possession like in college.

play another quarter, except make it only 8 minutes long.
if game is still tied, play another one.

if you're too tired/weak to play another quarter, retire and take up shuffleboard.
