As I said in a previous post, he had a dramatical improvement from 04-05.

All I'm saying is that I believe we've seen all that Russell can do. Meaning, be absolutely magnificent one game and the next be mediocre (See Aaron Brooks)

Like in the Bama game, he took total control of that game in the second half. The next week, didn't look like he ever picked up a football before against Arkansas.

In the Tennessee game, he started to force some throws after UT started making their come back. Threw the pick that set up the tieing score in the last few minutes; and I believe that ball was thrown from his own 10 yard line.

No one is saying that he is perfect or that he won't make mistakes. Thats apart of the game. But he will get better. He hasn't reached his ceiling yet.

JR is going to get better again next year the competition will drive him. I am glad he is on our team and not Auburn or bama.

I am however very excited to see Flynn go in the Peach

RP will make both of them become better as well.

    lets just win....:geauxtige

I'm scared. Georgia made me scared. Let's see how Jimbo does working with Flynn for a few weeks.

I think the verdict is still unsettled for JR. His strong points are his strong and accurate arm, and not getting rattled despite adversity. My complaints are: he locks onto his receivers too much, and takes too much time to make a decision, it seems. The nose dive balls and inconsistency also bothers me. Part of that may be due to the disappointing performance of his receivers which also may make him look bad. I do hope he continues to improve, and I suspect he still has room for such with more experience. As to smartness, I don't think he's a Peyton Manning or Joe Montana; however there aren't many of such around.

Russell isn't a dummy. He's what, 12-2 as a starter. His Recievers were so inconsistent that even when he hit them in the sweet spots they dropped first downs and touch downs. JR will be playing in the NFL in a couple years imo. He has the tools and is getting the experience to make dramatic improvement next season. He is the undisputed leader of this team.

    1) the end of the first half vs tennessee.. running and staying inbounds.
    2) the int he threw in the second half of the tennessee game.
    3) the turnovers in the FLA game.
    4) pretty much his whole performance vs arkansas.
    5) he's throwin into double and even triple coverage WAY too many times this year.
    6) he fails to look off receivers.
    7) he doesnt get rid of the ball when under pressure. he takes waaay too many sacks. also, when he's scrambling and avoiding the rush, he holds the ball like he's afraid he'll break it.
    8) how many times do we have to watch him set his receivers up to be drilled while laying out for throws?

I mean, these things dont really mean that he's "stupid" but just to elaborate on some things he may have been talking about when he said a "bad field general"

I dunno how I feel about him. Every time I watch him play, I think to myself he's just not making the correct decisions on the field... I sometimes get the same feeling I got during the booty-davey year... like the O-line and receivers play better for the backup than the starter? But he has a lot of game winning drives, and I can't say that Im disapointed in his performance. I'm really anxious to see flynn in this game, with time to prepare as the starter...against a very good defense.

he's got a point, on that last post, pretty close.
I hope he is wrong about the future though.
If he's barely scratched the surface as you say Sabanfan, somebody needs to give him a back hoe pretty dahm fast so he can dig a lil deeper, we could use some super duper QB play next year.

here's a thought, maybe the guy just needs a better offensive line? maybe weren't "all that" this year at O line play... just a thought. :yelwink2:
