perhaps the reason they put in flynn is exactly what you stated in your rant--it was "the ultimate light bulb for [russell]." Jimbo constantly likes to play it close to the vest unless we're down a lot--i hate that. NS is stupid for going for two early. stupid. We screwed up big time at the end, but so did they. I still can't beleive they didnt go for an extra 10-20 yds to kick a field goal (they have a great kicker i think.)
Bad coaching decisions. Going for 2 in first half Bad special teams play. How do you get 2 punts blocked. One....okay, it happens. Adjust. But 2...damn. :nope: Mental errors. Timeout called because right personnel not on field. :dis: Spiking ball on final drive. Not sure it mattered as things turned out but not what the odds would tell you to do. Blown coverage by veteran DBs. :bncry: Personnel. Tigers missed Wilkerson and Spears. :sob: Talentwise, I think if these teams play 10 times, LSU wins 8. But on Saturday, the Tigers just didn't coach or play smart. :nope:
"Personnel. Tigers missed Wilkerson and Spears. Talentwise, I think if these teams play 10 times, LSU wins 8. But on Saturday, the Tigers just didn't coach or play smart. " How about missing five running backs and Roth playing with a sprained wrist from the first play on (tackle for no gain). I wish I had a dollar for every time someone played Iowa and said, "You know, I bet if we played them ten times, we'd win eight". That's what Michigan has said two of the past three years.
I dont think we should be making excuses about losing to Iowa. The game I saw from the stands was Iowa mauling our offensive front for 3 quarters. Except for the run by Ally we did absolutely nothing offensively to win that game for the first 3 quarters. Add the rest of the bad stuff that went on and I felt like we were pretty lucky to get what I thought would be a game winning TD with 40 something seconds left. Overall though, the team that played the best for the vast majority of that game, and it wasnt LSU, won. End of story.
Actually, we could not have been 11-1, unless you figure that we lose to Auburn and beat Georgia. It would have been more likely the other way around, if we were going to win one of those. That would have put us in the SECCG, where we would have kicked UT tail (hopefully), making us 12-1 with a Sugar Bowl win over Va Tech, which has a major beat down from the Tigers coming - eventually!
Blah, Blah, Blah... Iowa won, LSU lost... both teams are talented and both fought a tough battle... hopefuly this is the beginning of a great OOC rivalry.
That is funny... Typical Roth... incredible player... questionable antics. He did issue a formal apology (after Ferentz "spoke" with him) and it was obvious Kirk was NOT happy with it...
Ferentz taliking about Roth earlier this year (paraphrased): "I'm glad Matt has football in his life. I'd hate to think about where he'd be if he didn't". We're not sure Roth has ever played with a full deck. We'll sure miss him against Michigan. He hated them and always played his best games against them.
"Block in the back" Okay I know you LSU fans are bitter about the loss, but come on...watch the replay and be objective...your defender who got a hand on Holloway (TD scorer) had his momentum going in that direction, thus he couldn't stop himself from falling. Hinkel (#11) does put his left hand on his back, but do you actually think he blocked him that hard with one hand enough to knock him down or alter his direction?!?! come'on...we are playing college football and if you boys from the sec need to rely on the refs bailing you out on a non-call like that, you are just being ridiculous. don't follow your ex-coach and take your lose with some dignity. If you guys call that a hold, you shouldn't be watching football...I feel stupid even defending it
