New Orleans (and points south) have had to evacuate how many times in the past few years (only to never take the direct hit)? If this is the "one," are people going to get out in time, or will complacency be lulling people to sleep?

This storm is starting to look like it has big plans for New Orleans.

Blanco just had a news conference stating that contraflow will probably begin later this afternoon out of the New Orleans area.

Unless things suddenly change with this storm, I-55 will be northbound only starting later today.

All projections show the thing passing to the east of BR, so I doubt BR would see much more than a few severe TS-type events, gusts maybe 35-45 mph.

The western half of a storm is always less intense, and it'll be curving NNE once it gets about 100 miles inland, if not sooner.

Yep, Baton Rouge really doesn't feel the full brunt of any hurricane. It's a minor inconvenience compared to what they go through in New Orleans and all along the coast.

Traffic will be a nightmare, tho...

Off the top, I wouldn't think it would be made up. We've got an open date on Sep. 17th, but NTSU is playing that Saturday. Let's cross our fingers and hope it doesn't come to that. :thumb:

I just don't see a chance of the game being postponed. Even if Tiger Stadium loses power, they'll have 3 or 4 days to restore it.

I am sure everyone remembers Andrew, some people were without power for a week or 2. If BR loses power then there is no way that the game will be played because I seriously doubt they will be able to get it up in time.

Question I have is Are the cranes still up around the stadium?

If so what is the chance that a TS wind of 45 mph would topple them over?
