Doesn't that go without saying? I'm impressed, seems like good gets (I do wonder how mobile they are; having a passing QB who can scramble if needed was the secret weapon for both of LSU's recent NCs). I guess what I'm saying is their rating doesn't matter as much as how well they fit the system (see JJ and Russell Shepard) or how stong they are mentally (Lee and Mett don't seem as composed as they need to be, though it seems despite results Mett got better at poise as the season continued).
JJ was the #8 mobile QB and 208 overall. Lee was the #15 QB in the nation. Perrilloux was the #1 QB in the nation. Shepard was the #1 dual threat QB and 7 overall. The last QB that we won a NC with was the #16 pro-style QB (Flynn) who was recruited by Saban. All were 4*s. There are plenty of weak swimmers on the internet.
I'm a Miles lover to the end, but there certainly seems to always be an issue regarding the QBs he picks up. Hopefuly we'll see an end to this trend. Mett showed real promise...if only he could feel a blitz and throw on the run.
They're both in the 6'2 - 6'3 range. Jennings is probably closer to 6'0 than 6'2 unless he grew an inch or so, which isn't unheard of. My buddy, who is a legit 6'0 says at camp last summer he seemed just a shade taller than him. He didn't see Rettig up close but heard he was a legit 6'3 and would probably end up over 6'4 or so once he stops growing. Both of them are over 200 lbs. Jennings has wheels but isn't a "typical" running QB. He's a pocket guy who can move. More top-end speed than lateral quickness, but he is plenty quick. Rettig is a pure pocket guy who can actually get out of the way if he has to. He's not a statue at all but we won't be calling designed runs. Both have pretty big arms already. Not Mett big, but big nonetheless.
