Are you serious right now? I got a link that says dual threat QB, so nyah! http://rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Russell-Shepard-59099

I'm not saying he was recruited to be QB, but that's what he played in HS and it seems like we promised him we'd give him a shot. Not that it matters. The point was that I'm glad we got some top flight recruits, but if they aren't a fit then it really doesn't matter. Miles has gotten top flight QB recruits and our offense has been fairly consistently bad anyway, particularly lately. To argue that severely misses the boat, I think.

In practice or in games? He was recruited in 2003, which gave him 2 years under Saban's tutelage, right?

If you weren't bragging on Shepard, who were you bragging on? Perilloux?

I just posted all the 4*s under Miles, which is what the two QBs we're getting this year are.

It's funny to see someone argue out of both sides of their mouth. Did Miles or Saban recruit the only QB to win a NC under Miles? Was Flynn here under Saban (I never said Saban played QB coach) for 2 years? Have we had disappointment after diappointment from the QB position with QBs Miles (or to clarify, his staff) has recruited?

Dude, why don't you ask Brett to change your name to CLM-i-hate? It would make infinitely more sense.

    Contained Chaos Don't we all?

The chick in the background seems fun.

I'm only 5'10", and when I met Les, he didn't really seem any taller than me. Got big-ass hands, though. So yeah, 6'2" seems about right.

So Les is terrible at judging the talent of QBs? They weren't really that good, but we recruited any way, and that is a DEFENSE of Miles? I'm confused. The whole point being, I'm excited that we're bringing in players that appear to be talented and have potential, but Miles' track record isn't very good in terms of that actually panning out.

If they weren't more talented than they played, WHY DID WE RECRUIT THEM? Should we not be disappointed in the anemic offense under Miles?

I don't say take away Miles' NC, and I credit him for having the sense to play Flynn, but the fact remains the one QB under Miles who was successful was recruited by another coach's staff. So I'm reserving my excitement about these new 4* recruits.

I feel obligated to make the counter-point to unmitigated kool-aid drinking. When someone defends Miles despite his imperfections and criticizes Saban because of his imperfections, I find that intellectually dishonest. I know from experience it is too much to ask for intellectual honesty, but because I still care about LSU football (and basketball, though we're dragging ass for another season, and other sports to a lesser degree) I won't sit silent and listen to BS. This is board to discuss differing opinions and I feel like I bring a reasonable opinion to the table. If you disagree, convince me; I welcome legitimate opinions other than my own, but not BS.

Nah, I was and am critical of Saban - he's too conservative at times. Just criticize with consistency is all I ask.

It's hard to argue too much with Miles as he is a NC winner and consistent top 10 finisher. It's really hard to argue with Saban as he has 4 NCs. But neither is perfect, and if you are honest I think you have to say Saban has a step on Miles. I think Miles would be much closer to, if not better than, Saban if he fielded an offense worth a damn.

I think the major difference between Saban and Miles though, (just my opinion) is Miles really needs a great coaching staff around him. It seems like Saban just picks em up off the streets.

thats a stretch. perhaps they are top 5 if you separate dualthreat and prostyle.
