And they both have the same overinflated egos backed by nothing. Both empty windbags full of shit.

Rex is much wittier than Trump. Trump is not so discreet. That VHS fellar is quite full a shit too but I don't have much room to point. :D

Agree. I'll give him credit; well-played on the comment, but we all know we don't have to wait for Trump's speech tonight to know that Rex will declare it to be excrement.

Actually, in encounters at sea, especially in shipping lanes, maneuverability is not that big a deal. The Rules of the Nautical Road specify, clearly, that the ship with the right of way must maintain course and speed. This suffices, 99% of the time, until two ships find themselves "in extremis" (which means one of them has screwed up). At that point, a ship must do what it can to avoid collision so maneuverability is a plus.

In all probability there were a lot more ships in the immediate vicinity, thus limiting options available at the last minute.

Driving ships in heavy traffic requires vigilance, diligence, and focus. Not to brag, but for about six months, on one ship, I was the only officer who "had the the deck" for leaving and entering port, and for driving alongside for underway replenishment. Routinely, we would finish an UNREP just as my watch took over. Always special.

I am seeing a ton of emails from my Navy world, all asking WTF.

You should have become a riverboat pilot when you got out. A lot of those guys make more than $500K a year.

They aren't alone and it's not just the Navy. I've been retired for a long time but it's apparent to me that the politicians have cut our armed forces too deep and it's beginning to show now. Too few forces with too little leadership, particularly at the top.
