Yes and if we had a consistant running game we could be 6-1 or 7-0 and not 5-2 with the defense we have. The trouble with all of this is that you can pretty much make any point you want too, isn't that correct? You guys might disagree with me but the problem that I see is the inability of the offense to move the ball consistantly or at crucial times against teams that we were supposed to be ranked with.
One thing I've learned over the years is you can "What if" until you're blue in the face and it doesn't change a thing. The best you can hope for is to learn from the mistakes made and to improve each game.
AND unless you can get Miles to do something about this, you can take these stats ( number one defense and all ) and 25Cents and maybe buy a cup of coffee and some interesting debate at Starbucks... No wait make that a dollar. good stats are like winning the special olympics, they're nice but hey, it's the special olympics.
Our two losses happened to be against teams ranked in the top-5 and on the road. Sure you could, pal. When I hear this tired old cliche, it always comes from someone who has never played or coached football. And when I hear this one, I realize they haven't even observed much football.
The stats are accurate. Make of them what you will. Balanced against playing a couple of top-5 teams! Every team has cupcake opponents on the schedule.
Better make it four dollars at Starbucks. Stats are just indicators, JS. These stats indicate to me that Miles needs to put special teams at the top of the list of problems to "do something about".
