Certainly won't argue with that; however, consider this: If you are playing war games with a paint ball gun, do you think you will put forth the same effort to "Survive" as if real guns with real bullets would be used?? On the flip, these athletes are competitive (At least they should be to have made it to the college level) and are wanting to have a good showing- especially with some spots up for grabs so may not be a good analogy. I always tried to "Re-create" the game scenario as close as possible but can understand reasons to elect keeping the QB safe. Funny thing is, he may get in a wreck on the way home and break a leg.....no pun- or um......go to a bar that night and.....well.......ya know.
One of the few moves DuBose made (that I agreed with) during his tenure was keeping Alexander off the field during our A-day. When I think about the QB's, if you have a DE getting around your OT's, the problem is evident. There's no need, that I can see, for the QB to take the hit.
