i am only a couple of chapters into the book. it is rather somber, but i like it so far. however, my favorite book, by far, lately, has been dixieland delight. (a book about sec football.) that book had me laughing on almost every page.
Like I've told you before, that's probably the most entertaining book I have ever read. I can't wait for the semester to be over so I can pick up his new book.
I agree and it's probably cause former athletes- especially football- can relate to the "Somberness" and it takes on a different meaning. The ladies here are great and add a lot, overall, but what I mentioned above is why they add much more substance to Valentine's Day threads, Good Eats forum, etc. than football/recruiting ones- there are exceptions though.
It gets better...sort of....hes a bit of a whiner, like most men..not ALL...there are EXCEPTIONS Good Book!!! I was an athlete all through elem. school, jr. high, high school and college...remained friends w/ my teammates....got a job and got a life....maybe its just a "girl" thing Is that so? hmm...
How big a part of your life were athletics? Were they your life, or did you "just play sports"? To me, football was everything! Those 1st spring drills, then fall practices, 2 a days, playing under the lights on Friday nights. God I LOVED it and wished it never would have ended. It was every bit as big a part of me as anything else I'd done to that point. And it just kinda ends abrubtly. Yeah you know when the last game is, kinda. (We got bounced in the 1st round of the playoffs my SR year). One minute, you're an athlete, the next, you're just a regular student. It's pretty tough.
That's what made you were an athlete and not a participant. :thumb: Cheerleading may be different. *Tiga reeling ol Luv in*
If it helps me to get chicks, I'll say It Never Rains in Tiger Stadium is the best book ever written. Otherwise, I'll just point out that I was saying that Dixieland Delight was the most entertaining book I've ever read. Oh, the other book was good, too.
