http://blog.al.com/trackingtigers/ Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville was sitting on a deer stand in rural Arkansas early this morning. Cell phones, of course, work even in deer stands if they're not too far out in the sticks. Tuberville, who will be back in Auburn around lunchtime today, said he was incredulous when he learned after emerging from the woods Thursday night of the reports flooding out of Arkansas that he was on the verge of agreeing to become the Razorbacks' coach. Tuberville didn't want to be quoted, but he had some strong words for those responsible for those reports. Neither he nor his agent, Jimmy Sexton, Tuberville said, has had any contact at all with Arkansas officials about the job vacated by Houston Nutt. By the way, he and assistants Eddie Gran and Steve Ensminger were planning to hunt ducks but ended up hunting deer. Gran bagged a deer. The other two have struck out so far.
Thanks, I got Auburn and Georgia confused... was he coaching at Georgia before coming to LSU? [EDIT]: After a little research, he was a grad assistant at Auburn from 1995-1996.
CTT has asked that the "buyout clause" that is currently in his agreement be linked to various commitments that the university has previously pledged for facilities improvements. Previous "verbal" commitments were recently rescheduled/ pushed-off when Auburn began to pursue a new basketball arena. This is a common occurence when dealing with capital improvements, however CTT wanted additional assurances. Tubs is looking for a new, full-sized indoor practice facility (the current one is only offers about 40 yards of useable field), improvements to the players lounge, and a couple of smaller imrovements. Pretty reasonable, IMO. Rewrites have been submitted and are currently being reviewed by attorneys for both parties.
If Tubs is looking for a new, full-sized indoor practice facility (the current one is only offers about 60 yards of useable field), improvements to the players lounge, and a couple of smaller imrovements, etc., then he doesn't have to look that far; Nutt put all that together at Arkansas. Good Call!! TT just has to look to the nearest UHaul to reach those simple goals for HIS football team.
Exactly. This M.O. has Sexton's fingerprints all over it. I will say that, given everything that's happened over the last several years, it's easy to see wy some are so gullible.
