    Bengal B, "Crimson Tide" came from a story a sports writer many years ago wrote about a football game between Tulane (Green Wave) and Alabama. In it he said something to the effect that "the Alabama defense turned back the Tulane Green Wave like a Crimson Tide." Some of our Bama posters may be able to be more specific, but that is generally how Alabama got the nickname "Crimson Tide." :thumb:

    Really, I thought Alabama got its name form the Steely Dan song "Deacon Blues", you know the line "They call Alabama the Crimson Tide." You learn something new every day.
