    Loco's making a distinction that I agree with as well. There's a world of difference between police officers and soldiers. The accepted risks are far different. Both are respected professions that are wrought with danger. But it's a different sort of danger, and a different sort of respect. IMO, anyway.

    i disagree but i don't know a whole lot about becoming a cop. would seem to me I would approach working the new orleans project as a warzone with the knowledge of that long before i took the oath...same way when a lot of us here swore in the military.

    You must spread some reputation around before giving it to Saltyone again.

    I still disagree, all policeman recieve training through the "academy" and are trained in upholding civil peace. Does not matter if they are a desk sgt, dect. beat cop. Do say I dont want to uphold civil order because "gangs" "thugs" "looters" are shooting at officers is still an act of cowardice in my book. Dont take the pay check in the good times if you will not PROTECT AND SERVE in the bad times JMO

    Once again I pray for those who have lost so much. :usaflagwa
