Im mostly talking politics here. But you can change or alter some core beliefs. I have, happens when you stop watching just Fox news. Its the only news i watched until about 2004, that plus moving to a big city my world view got bigger and my political views shifted.

Same, also changed my stance on abortion and capital punishment and I gave up being pretty racist towards Muslims. I had never knew any Muslims, but in school and after in my jobs I have met many and are all normal great people.

News is is the "enemy of the people", that's the party line. Thanks for the clarification, and you believe this?

So should we just have state run media? No media, just fox News? There is issues with media, but I fail to see what you gain by targeting all media you don't like as the enemy of the people. Unless your goal is to have those people rounded up and killed.

What does SME mean to you? To me its subject matter expert, I don't get your last bit. You think your not wrong on "Intelligence, analysis, SME's, skepticism, and common sense"

Would those be the ones who loudly stand up for Americans who are murdered by muzzie extremists? Who support American Jews or those who support the State of Israel? The ones who declare their understanding that their religion is NOT their state?
I don't go to many parties and I don't belong to any either.

I don't like any media. Period. I particularly don't like bloggers who pretend to know shit when they can't even put together a proper sentence or use correct spelling. Follow the money. The message you get is from those at the top. The vast majority wanted Hillary and did what they could to make it happen. Far scarier than alleged Russian involvement.

No. It means those things in combination are what allow me to have confidence that I am not wrong on most issues.

I don't watch Fox News. I am not a Republican. I am more conservative and most definitely a Constitutionalist. I have lived a somewhat interesting life, been around DC and military types. I'm a mom. I believe in the concept of America as it was mostly conceived. Rights, freedoms, and opportunity. Americans have given their lives to defend those and that means something to me. I am sick of social engineering and judicial power-mongering. WE the people deserve better.

Yeah, that's about how I sounded before on Muslims. Probably worse, I said some pretty shitty things about Muslims in general and I was completely wrong.

I hear yah on last bit, we do have a great country. I'm sure we agree on more than we don't as we both are close to military life. I was in the Army and I have multiple family members either deployed or about to deploy. Was born when my father was deployed in Italy too. So military life is a huge part of what shaped me.

Just wish we could be more civil to each other, we all fail there I think. The country is split into two different realities, the truth is somewhere in the middle. But both sides think they are 100% right.

I feel for much of what you say @uscvball. However I think many have a blurred view of the media and it’s history and importance as sort of a fourth branch of our society. It’s not a branch of our government and never should be, however it has served since before the revolution and serves today a vital place in our society.
Those of us raised in the 50’s-90’s were brought up in a very different media world than has existed for most of the country’s existence. Probably due to WWII, andthe Cold War media felt it necessary to limit partisanship from its content. To a great extent it succeeded though certainly shades of difference still were present.
For the 190 years prior (yes from before the revolution) media was a forment of partisanship. There were multiple newspapers each with a different political outlook in every city and town. The vitriol and slander in attacks would make us blush today. That is what the founding fathers knew and believed necessary for a free society. The media is where the great debates of every age are argued and played out. If we muzzle the press we, the United States are the losers.
As conservatives we need to do a better job. We need to make our arguments clearer and more compelling. The greatness of our country is in the opportunity it provides its citizens. The opportunity to stand on our own and succeed....or fail with pride not obedience to a master. We need to be evangelists for what built our country into the greatest in history.

but “great debates” aren’t the focus of the media

somewhere along the way they became weaponized mercenaries, peddling “truth”.... as They see it

    who is muzzling the press?
