Well.....Dave Bickler actually sang that Survivor song but he left the band and Jimi Jamison sang their other "hits".

Betty White Dyes Peacefully in Her Los Angeles Home!

A headline on the Empire News site went viral today, starting a rumor that Betty White was dead – all because fans didn’t know the difference between “dye” and “die.” MediaMass reported that a “RIP Betty White” Facebook page has already gained more than a million likes.

The headline that started the rumor was, “Actress Betty White, 92, Dyes Peacefully In Her Los Angles Home.” It introduced a satirical article about White not being a natural blonde and dying her own hair in her home. The article even contained a fake quote from her manager saying, “Betty has often told me she feels it is relaxing and soothing to dye her own hair, peacefully in her home, where she can laugh and enjoy time with her animals. She’s said on more than one occasion that as a blonde, she has had ‘more fun’ in her roles, and in life.”

Fortunately for her fans, Ms. White is alive and well and still dying her hair blonde. Representatives for White released the following statement, “She joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. She’s still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet.”

According to Business2Community, the hoax started on Wednesday when a link to the article was posted on Empire’s Facebook and got over 2100 shares, as fans who misread the headline thought that Betty had actually died. One fan, who apparently didn’t read the article, actually commented angrily on the Facebook post that it was a fake and Empire News couldn’t spell – to which Empire replied, “We spell perfectly fine, thank you.”

Empire News posts this disclaimer, saying that their articles are satirical and should not be taken seriously, but Twitter fans are still sharing what they think is the sad news, some of them even citing the article.

Or at the age of 476.....I always liked her mainly because she would laugh at a comment like that. She never expected an apology for anything, didn't give a damn what anyone thought, got plastic surgery every time her crazy heart desired and came out and said what everyone else was already thinking and not giving a damn about any backlash. RIP you ole maniac.

Exactly. Today, I watched a snippet of an interview from the last year or so and she basically didn't care what happened with certain stations or venues because she felt she'd already experienced the worst of everything....she'd gotten fired, her husband had killed himself, audiences had sometimes disliked her, she'd been perma-banned from NBC. What else could they do to her? She got through all of it with humor.

That is a tough damn business and she was the first woman to make a decent living on the stand-up circuit and on TV. Total trailblazer. There isn't a female comic today that doesn't owe her. And I hope they bury her in a Valentino.

Lucy was probably the first superstar woman in TV, she had her own studio and was hugely influential. But there were a lot of female comic actors in show business ahead of her that she built on.

But stand-up comedy . . . that was a definite boy's club before Joan Rivers. So were the national TV talk shows. She was pretty much the Lone Ranger for years and was relentless in getting to the top tier and staying there for decades. Trailblazer for sure.

She said never be afraid to laugh at yourself, you might miss out on the joke of the century.
