Damn right. I used to stay up to watch their games on ESPN. They were unlike any other team, Anderson Hunt who could drain 3's from anywhere on the court, Stacey Augmon who could absolutely fly, Greg Anthony running point, Larry Johnson was the physical presence, and I belive it was George Ackles playing center but I need to check on that. Greatest college basketball team I've ever watched.

correct, he replaced david butler from the year before i believe.

one crazy thing which shows how different and worse college basketball is--that unlv teams starting lineup had 23 years college experience.

    that'd take kentucky 5 years.

Remember the year before they lost to Duke that final 4 with UNLV, Duke, Loyola Marymount and I think Georgia Tech. That's wheb Bo Kimble shot the left handed free throw for Hank Gathers. I used to love college basketball back then and I believe it's because of what you pointed out. Juniors and Seniors on teams.

    yep. great moment in sports.

90-91 they beat every team by 7+points and they played everyone anywhere. most ganes they won by 20 or more it seemed. the closest was on the road to nolan richardsons r-kansas team and that one ended 7 but unlv was up over 20 in that one as well and coasted. couldnt beat duke in the rematch. unlv wins that game 9 of 10 times otherwise. but that was the one.

That was the same year that LSU beat Loyola Marymount 148-141 in OT with Shaq, Stanley Roberts and Chris Jackson. It was a few weeks before Gaithers died. LSU also beat UNLV 107-105 that year.

LJ should have taken the 3 instead of passing it to Anderson Hunt who was well guarded.

The NCAAzis really had it in for Dale Brown and Tarkanian. Multiple investigations of them both before they finally got something to stick and ran them off.
