This is what I tell my students. To them, the ultimate insult is, "They're OLD." You either get old or get dead--take your pick.

A few months ago, I had a sub, and the kids hated her, "But, Mrs. O., she was OLD; she had to be at least 42!"

    "Thanks, guys, I'm 44."

It's hard to think of a more influential guitarist. Clapton was the guitar God and he worshipped BB. The BB King and Clapton album is really, really good. It was released on Clapton's label and Clapton was the bigger star, but he insisted on second billing.

I was lucky enough to see BB once. Great. I have seen all 3 Kings of the Blues: BB once, Freddy twice and Albert 3 times.

I never saw Freddy King. I saw BB in a club outside Port Allen in the early 70's. My roommate and I were the only white people in the place but they knew we were there to see BB King and no one hassled us. On any other night I wouldn't have gone near the joint and they would not have welcomed us.

Garo Yepremian, placekicker for the back to back Superbowl winning Miami Dolphins of the 70's dead at 70. I'll never forget the play when Yepremian picked up the ball after a bad snap in the Superbowl and threw an ill advised pass which was intercepted and run back for the Redskins only score.
