David Huddleston, who played The Big Lebowski in the movie named.....you know, died earlier this week. As Olson Johnson in Blazing Saddles, he delivered one of my favorite comebacks of all time:

Reverend Johnson: Order, order. Goddamnit, I said "order".

Howard Johnson: Y'know, Nietzsche says: "Out of chaos comes order."

Olson Johnson: Oh, blow it out your ass, Howard.

Pete Fountain, playing "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" for the Big Guy today.

I remember him being a guest on the Tonight Show years and years ago. He visited with Carson for a few minutes, then went over and jammed with Doc and the band. Johnny applauded, and said We'll be right back with (some guy I never heard of), and went to commercial. There was one segment left in the show. They came back from commercial, and Johnny said, We're going to reschedule (some guy), let's just enjoy....and Pete and Doc jammed for the rest of the show. A great unsung moment of late night TV.

That's probably an astute guess. Its business as usual on all their shows right now, only mention is on the bottom crawls, and not even being repeated as Breaking News.

I saw two reports yesterday....one saying he hadn't been feeling well for a few days and another saying that foul play had been ruled out. Seems like if he'd had a long term illness, they wouldn't need to rule out foul play. Maybe he just had a heart attack or stroke or something.
