Another Herbert story...Our dad was stationed in San Francisco in the late '50s and he and some other doctors, went out together to the purple onion where Phyllis Diller was the unknown house comic. She had just started her career and wasn't that good around 1958.

They thought she was not that funny, and were all drinking heavily....so one of the doctors began hassling her....and she hassled them right back until they were bounced from the place. LSU was in the house back then for a while. :p

Funny how the color of the onion changes when you go north. When I was stationed out there we would go to the "Red Onion", nice place. Lots of talent.

Here's one that snuck by all of us last month. Ron Palillo - Arnold Horshack from Welcome Back, Kotter - died Aug. 13 of an apparent heart attack. He was 63.

Bob Denver Gilligan also Maynard G Krebs two classic comedic role of the late 1950's and early 1960's. I laughed so hard at Maynard's shrieks whenever the word "work" was mentioned.
