This will be using this years records for next year's schedule, so it won't be fully accurate, but it gives us an idea. Last year: (record) (opponents record) ULM (1-11) (47-70) Arizona (2-10) (84-56) Western Illinois (1-3) (14-48) Louisiana Tech (5-7) (73-63) South Carolina (5-7) (80-56) Total = (14-38)*2/3 + (298-293)*1/3 Total = (0.269)*2/3 + (0.504)*1/3 Total = (0.179) + (0.168) Total = 0.347 This year: Oregon State (7-5) (78-65) Houston (7-6) (69-78) Troy State (4-6) (60-67) Vanderbilt (1-10) (70-64) Total = (19-27)*2/3 + (277-274)*1/3 Total = (0.413)*2/3 + (0.503)*1/3 Total = (0.275) + (0.168) Total = 0.443 Overall, it seems we are improving our SOS quality next year.
Any more PAC-1 teams besides the almighty University of Smarmy Coaches and our SOS will REALLY suffer!!!
Our nonconference schedule is getting better. 2 of the 3 teams this season went to bowl games (Houston,Oregon State) in 2003 as compared to none of the teams on 2003 schedule went bowling. I still think we need to have a non conference schedule that is one pasty team (Troy State, Arkansas State, UTEP), one middle of the road team (Oregon State,Syracuse, Southern Miss) and one elite team (USC, Michigan, Texas). In 13 game seasons we should have one more middle of the road team.
