was thinking the same thing. mediocre at best. although he got his feeble point across, I suppose. Must be an AU phd.
I can understand why Saban wants to give this a shot, especially at $5 million a year, so I won't call him dumb. However, I believe this writer is on point in his prediction of a lack of success. Hopefully Nick will want to return to Red Stick in a few years.
I hope no one in the b-ham area depends on that buffoon for his news. to compare saban with davis and spurrier couldn't be more erroneous. to not even mention saban's pro experience as bellichick's d coor is quite baffling. spurrier dogged haslett last year because he worked long hours while spurrier was playing golf in the middle of the season. see where that motivation and drive to succeed got him? davis was never known to be a good x and o's coach which saban has proved to be quite competent. dealing with pro players? both spurrier and davis were pitiful in that regard. saban should be better IMO. such a shallow article to rush to judgement based on two poor recent examples. some people are just not cut out to be in certain postions, some people are. to stereotype like this is just really weak.
Saban is definitely of a different mold than Spurrier, Davis, Carroll. The potential for success is there because he has substance in his coaching abilities. The question mark for Saban will definitely be whether or not he can get high priced pros to buy what he's saying. I believe there will definitely be days where he'll look back and wonder why he took the job. The current players there have plenty of resentment already. Looks like they may have to clean house to get players who might even begin to buy Saban as a coach.
