The announcers were almost certain Nick was going to just try a hail mary pass. They were shocked when they saw the FG kicker come out. A kicker who had only tried 2 FGs all year long. And it's not even about which option has better chances, it's about the chance of a blocked FG run back for a TD or what actually happened on the play. Alabama had no athletes on the field that could even try to run down the guy. That's crazy. There was so much fail on Saban's part all game long. Once his kicker missed for a 2nd time, it fucked up Saban's mind. He could not think clearly later on in the game. It was like he had lost control of the situation, with Saban being such a control freak.
Watching the Mizzou/Aggie game and the ESPN tape quoted Saban throwing his players under the bus. "Missed plays and not covering the kick". Said he had never seen a game end like that. What a dousche!!!
But if you look back at this game, Auburn misses a wide open receiver on the first drive for a TD. Then they miss an easy blocked punt that gives them either a TD or a short drive for a TD. Should have put up 21 quick points. So Bama can't say they weren't fortunate to be in the position they were in to put that game away late.
Even if all that happens, the Gumps are once again going to have to convince voters that a team that didn't make it into its own championship game should get a shot at all the marbles. Nick won't have the "smell test" argument to make this time around, and I suspect voters won't be eager to let that happen a second time, not with the BCS in its final year and their last chance to break the SEC's streak.
CBS will once again have Nick on their pregame show leading up to the SEC CG whoring his team to the public as they did in 2011. If the Oklahoma State coach does the same thing after they molested a top 10 Oklahoma team by 30+ points, then they would have played LSU instead. But he was too diplomatic about it. 10 more voters out of 175 total voters was all that they were short of making the title game. CBS MUST get Bama back in the title game if everything else falls apart. It will happen. Go Missouri.
Not only that but tOSU & CUM are as good at sucking up and whining as Nick and the gumps. Both feel equally entitled to be awawrded what they don't earn. It will be a massive suckfest.
You know, their only loss that year was in overtime too, but it was on the road and it was one day after their women's basketball coach and an assistant died in a plane crash. You know that hits home hard with Ok. St. because it's the second time this decade something like that happened. Ancient history, I know, but it's the biggest reason why it should have been the Cowboys and not the gumps in that game.
