After last season, Saban's new contract was for 10 years, $28 million.

Exactly. Besides, with the state of uncertainty surrounding the Saints and Benson's desire for a new stadium "or else", whoever accepts a job as the Saints runs the risk of looking for house in suburban San Antonio.

Saban, and more specifically, his WIFE, have clearly expressed their happiness and content in Baton Rouge.

Why am I the only one not surprised that the starter of this thread is a Tulane fan???? The article itself was probably written by an alum of either Tulane or one of the other LA schools....

By overpaying I assume you mean giving up draft picks, not financially overpaying. Master P's contract for Ricky was largely ridiculed for being way too small in terms of actual payment to Ricky.

I want to see the Saints in LA for a long time to come...Los Angeles, that is. Don't take our coach...just take that lousy, losing franchise and dump it on L.A.

but players don't believe in Benson! He cannot keep anybody. Name one team that does not have an (decent) ex-Saint...

Saban would NEVER be associated with such a classless organization as the New Orleans Saints.

I'll tell you where Saban would absolutely rock on the pro level: Houston.

Bob McNair is 100% committed to winning, and believe me he spends the loot to prove it. The only hangup might be Charley Casserly. Charley is a very good talent evaluator, but I strongly suspect Nick's going to want "Saban guys" (guys who see and evaluate players the way he does) in the front office.

That would be a good pick for the Saints and a step in the right direction. Terry grew up in Reserve, so it would be a homecoming for him.
He was a star at LSU, so that would put some asses in the seats. Finally,
he's a highly regarded NFL assistant who many feel is long overdue his shot at being a HC.

Unfortunately, these arguments make too much sense, so Benson wouldn't heed them even if I could manage to get him on the phone. Add to that the fact that if the Browns organization has any sense whatsoever, they'll remove the "interim" from Robiskie's title and retain him as their permanent HC.

Hey I am *barely* a follower of the Saints these days much less a fan... No need for you to explain Benson's shortcomings to me... heh..

Just saying, Benson does actually fork out a lot of money so I would not be surprised if he paid a lot for a coach...

Being him though, he's pay a LOT for a BAD coach.
