Dont flatter yourself so. While it may always be a heated rivalry and of course Auburn's biggest "want to" was to always beat BAMA, the reason goes back to Bear Bryant and the close proximity of the two schools made it even more heated. The fact is Bama Dominated the SEC and even the National scene for a while. So don't fool yourself, there is a marked difference in AU fans and Bama fans. Bama wants to beat Au like days of old, but they also want to be ranked in the top 5 and see that trophy, like days of old. Auburn doesn't have that many "days of old" other than hoping to beat Bama. Much like LSU was an elite team way back, only to be beaten by the Tide every year, then regulated to a second tier bowl game. While Bama went on to win by playing some Northern school. The only difference is Auburn fans had to go to work and face those Bear Bryant flag toter's every day because they lived and worked with them. Don't kid yourself, Bama does want to even the score with AU, but they want that trophy more. The road to fame for Nick runs through Atlanta, via Baton Rouge and Auburn and every other SEC team on their schedule. Nick maybe a liar but he isn't stupid. One or two wins over AU will keep the hounds at bay for a while, but not long, unless he makes it to Atlanta. and soon. Nick's downfall won't be loosing to Auburn once every other year, his downfall will be his Ego and not making it to Atlant within 2-3 years. If he looses to auburn but wins the SEC Bama fans wont be upset. if he beats Auburn and goes 5-6 the second year, Paul Jr. will be asking Nick what kinda hat he likes to travel in.
Nick has 4 years to win a MNC. He has 1 year to beat Auburn. I either of these things don't happen, the AMAB folks will turn on him quick. Remember, they pressured Stallings to retire while he was winning 10 games a year. GEAUX TIGERS (We're Miles ahead)
Well, it's not like they don't have a good thing going over in Auburn either though. I've said it in another thread and I'll say it here: Saban's two biggest rivals at 'Bama are a lot better now (LSU and Auburn) than his two biggest rivals were when he was at LSU ('Bama and Auburn).
You know I think some of them peeped up from their shovels ( trying to dig up the bear ) long enough to see Saban riding into town. I guess they think he is the second coming, but just like one of the riders in the apocolypse, he wont be there long.
 At least somebody still loves him. If you guys win next year she will probably be cursing him.
Regretably, Saban may, himself, be his downfall.....aweful amount of really bad press concerning his handling of the situation. Essentially, Saban has been branded a liar, etc., a trait directly at odds with his player mantra of integrity and dedication. This will play heavy on the minds of most potential recruits, their families and coaches. This coupled with the fact that lightning very rarely stikes twice makes for a very disadvantageous setting ripe for failure. Time will tell.
