Yes after how many years? 32 years correct? And still followed by some of the toughest gun laws in the land designed to discourage gun ownership. You're saying that all that has had no effect on legal gun ownership? Even a faaaaaar left nut job like yourself doesn't believe that.

The laws would work much better if they were nationwide. Keep your rifles and shotguns, but give up the handguns and assault weapons.

The laws would work much better if they quit making them to reign in law abiding citizens and started enforcing those already on the books designed to reign in criminals.

Everybody knows that rifle bullets and shotgun shells just bounce right off of the human body.

No one would beat the gun laws, not confiscation, drum harder than me, if we summarily executed anyone using a gun, in any crime. Period. At a minimum there would be no repeat offenders!

I "implied" nothing of the sort. I was reminding you that "the government" is not taking our guns away. Not in Baltimore and not in Chicago. Even the most notorious attempts have not passed Constitutional muster.

Hey, aren't you Republicans supposed to favor local governments having the authority to make their own laws? Does that only work when they make laws you like?

I never said that at all, you just made it up. Typical goose-stepping fascist non-argument.

It only works when they are Constitutional, not restrictive and random. I am an Independent, just like you claim to be. New York prohibits pistols without a permit, no new guns deemed "assault weapons" allowed in the State. A pistol grip on a semi-automatic rifle makes it one. They continue to pass laws and wait for court decisions, then pass another one. Unless you are wealthy or a target personality, it is almost impossible to get permit to carry in NYC. Keep telling us that "the government" is not trying to keep guns out of the hands of citizens.

OK, the government is not trying to keep guns out of the hands of citizens.

Some local governments are trying to address local gun violence problems with measures designed to reduce the guns available to criminals. Citizens, who vote in those local areas, may choose to live with some restrictions to help facilitate this. Got a problem with local governments trying to help the citizenry with the support of the citizenry?

The SAFE Act knee jerk reaction to Sandy Hook was passed against sheriffs wishes and most of the State. New York City and the Governor passed it in the middle of the night. http://www.nysaferesolutions.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Shining-Star-Map-05-May-13.png
