I don't like an LSU fan belittling OSU, but what do you mean OSU said it was good and Mike's turn anyway?

Why would they have just offered him a big contract extension at $1.5 million per year if they were looking to move him out? That doesn't make sense.

Did you mean, if he is leaving, it is unfortunate but they are excited to see the job Mike can do? Or, they were looking to get rid of Les anyway and so this works out great for them?

Go to the Louisville boards, many of them are convinced Petrino turned LSU down. Fans will do what fans need to do in order to feel better. We did it when Nick left, Louisiville is doing it, and...I'll leave it there.

It wasn't a big raise, it was 100 K per year and it only added two "option years" to the contract he signed last year.

Like I said, "RUMOR", but the rumor is from good source. There has been a lot of crap flying around that I don't believe, but I don't find this hard to believe. This coaching change goes back to several things.

I think the real truth falls somewhere in the middle.

It's obvious the OSU administration is very high on Gundy. He's smart, young and a former Cowboy. To have him succeed more in his current capacity, would be to face the danger of losing him to a lesser school to become someone else's head coach. Miles, in his own right, is fairly young and unless another big dog came barking, Gundy would have remained where he is.

I also feel that once one major program starts inquiring about your head coach, even if he stays, more inquires are sure to follow and OSU might not have been interested in going through what Louisville and Petrino are going through.

Again, this is PURELY speculation on my part, but like I said, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

I think that's an extremely accurate assesment of the situation.

At first I thought that the quote from Bertman was a bit harsh (true though) but the more I read it the more I liked it.

Make Miles earn it if he wants it, which I am sure every coach wants

Miles wanted to be here dammit and I love that
