Man, this thread reminds me of the good ol days in BR...

...when the drinking age was 18...

...back then we tore out of the bars in EBR Parish at 2 AM...

...truckin' ova da bridge to WBR Parish, where there was a 4 AM curfew...

...Mother Earth, The San Souci, The Candlelight (I swear Percy Sledge ALWAYS was playin' there)...

...on the way back to BR later there was almost always a wreck...

    ...strange days indeed...

Ahh . . . yes. Eighteen years old, drinking fishbowl draft beers with a platter of crawfish at San Souci at three in the morning with a History class at 8:30. Those were the days.

Hippie chicks in miniskirts that really believed in free love. Potliquor playing hard swamp rock at Cahoots. Reefer was $10 an ounce . . . and we thought it was expensive.

    Hahahaha!!!
I think their raison d'etre is more along the lines of the latter. I'm not sure, but I think they had a hand in that whole nonsense about the rebel flag. In general, they think they know what's best for everyone else and try to enforce that (much like a neo-con or a bed-wetting librul).

We're definately heading in the wrong direction.

First, they told business owners (with a few exceptions) they couldn't allow their customers to smoke in their building.

Now, bar owners can't set the price of their drinks.

Guess they'll soon tell restaurant owners what kind of food they can serve.

There is a bill filed in the upcoming session to to do the same throughout the state. From The Advocate:

    We're becoming less free everyday...

This thread is so funny and when I finish, you'll know why. Taylor Townsend, who passed this in Natchitoches isn't as self-righteous as you may think. Ole Taylor, and I'm being cute because he's only in his 40's, frequents the bars here pretty regularly. Especially since his unfortunate demise last year, when his wife caught him in your fair city with someone else, in the apt. that we tax payers pay for. I told you you'd find it funny! Yes, he thinks he's quite the lady's man, so when he passed this bill, he had to have another reason, like a "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours".

Yet another example of what a backwards, uptight burg Baton Rouge (my own hometown) is.
