Hatch came in to run the option and it worked pretty good. He didn't play many snaps and only came in for special situations. It didn't matter where Lee threw the ball middle of the field or not, he was so far off most of the time it was useless. Crowton is a good OC but the line played horrible and he was going against a high quality opponent without a QB that could consistently hit open receivers on a 5 yard route. The co DC's absolutely suck, I'll give you that one. I don't think either of them is DC material and their sum doesn't equal one either. Miles needs to start shopping for someone that knows defense now.
Look, if you want to get mad at anyone...get MAD at Ryan Perriloux. He's the one would couldn't keep his mental game off the field, together. The Offense starts with a seasoned QB with BIG GAME experience. We don't have that, so we are going to experience growing pains, epically away from home. Florida is a very good team, so are we...I think we have better talent overall than UF. But the difference is Tebow is a Seasoned and tested QB...He's lost big games, and rose from the ashes. Gary Crowton is one of the premier coordinators in all of college football. It wasn't his plays, it was the QB execution that kill us. Now, our defense is very young at DB, but we have seasoned D-line that did shine at times...But you can not defend a team like Florida, if your offense can not sustain drives to rest your defense. I only question the dual-defense coordinators because there has not been any adjustments make in the second half of our last two games...if they were...they were the wrong adjustment. The rest of the season will tell what we are made of...I hope one QB can setup.
I agree wholeheartedly on the DC points...and this is NOT based on one game. This just happens to be the first game so far this year where the offense couldn't bail out the defense. We made two of the worst offenses in the conference look good and the second-best offense in the conference look all-world. IF ONLY Miles would have gone after Tenuta when he was available. But I digress. There must be something there if Miles trusts them. We'll see. I disagree with your points on Crowton. He is doing great. Going into this game...having already faced two solid defenses in the Barn and State, LSU was the number one team in total offense in the SEC...followed by Florida. The players...O-Line in particular...left their big-boy pants on the plane and we never got the offensive gameplan going. Receivers were dropping passes from pass number one. Lee was unsettled as a RSF is expected to be. Scott wasn't breaking tackles like we have come to expect. The play-calling was solid, IMO. It was execution that was lacking.
If the defense could have forced more than two punts, they would have gotten more rest. This loss was a team effort, plain and simple. And IMO, the passing game (starting with the QB) was the only thing that halfway worked for us. It's not "lack of QB execution" that held CS to 17 yards in the first 59:30 of the game.
The bandwagon train left Sunday. I think you missed it. We got beat by a better team. It seems to me you were only kidding yourself if you thought otherwise. Please take off the purple and gold glasses, and exit stage left.
You want to bring up RP? He's not a Tiger anymore, over and done with. OH BTW... He threw 5 picks against E.Kentucky this past Friday night. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=282852198
The game got out of hand early and took us out of our game plan. It's good to get this out of the way. The bandwagoners and Les haters have had this cocked and in the holster since the Arky game last year.
I am not a naysayer and I am not calling for the coaches' heads, but he does have 1 or two good points in there albeit he said it wrong. But first off, Florida had a great game and we started off with a really unlucky tip that took a bit of the pep out of us. I am starting to feel the same way about the defense, particularly the secondary. We are 5 games into the season and our secondary is still way too soft and way too green. I am just not a fan of the very soft coverage and conceding the catch and 5 yards before our coverage is on the receiver.
I think what he is trying to say is that if RP had stayed at LSU he would have had time in practices under an elite program to learn the ropes. RP has the talent there he just needed it to be refined by Les and Company; I can pretty much guarantee that if RP were still here he would not have thrown 5 interceptions. But its beside the point since apples aren't oranges and RP is long gone.
