Emailed CST about the chances they would pick up the coverage. Their response:

It is a bid process to the NCAA and we have placed a bid. We are not sure if we will get the regional, but we hope to be awarded the tournament.

So if there is a bid process going on doesn't that indicate multiple outlets are vying for coverage rights? If so, wouldn't that mean the game is going to be aired by someone?

LSU, UC Irvine and Kent State head to City of Angels

NEW ORLEANS – The exclusive television rights to the 2010 Los Angeles NCAA Baseball Regional has been awarded to Cox Sports Television (CST) and Jumbo Sports Network, as announced by the NCAA today. The LSU Tigers (40-20), entering as the region’s #2 seed, will face #3 seed UC Irvine (37-19), top seeded UCLA (43-13) and Kent State (39-23) in a double-elimination tournament.

The games will be Friday, Saturday, Sunday at 4pm and 8pm central time each day and then a “if necessary” game on Monday at 8pm. LSU and UC Irvine will kick off the regional with the first game of the day on Friday. The games will be seen exclusively across the CST Network covering nearly 2 million homes across 7 southern states.

“We are excited to partner with Jumbo Sports and make these games available to all CST affiliates across the South” said CST head Rod Mickler. "CST takes great pride in being the sports home of the LSU Tigers".

“To be a part of the greatest tournament in college sports is an absolute joy for us,” said Jumbo Sports Executive Producer Ronnie Rantz. “We are excited to give our viewers some of the best college baseball in the country this weekend.”

The Los Angeles regional is one of 16 four-team tournaments that will take place throughout the country this weekend. The winner of this regional will advance to face the winner of the Fullerton Regional, which is comprised of No. 1 seed Cal State Fullerton, No. 2 Stanford, No. 3 New Mexico and No. 4 Minnesota.

Calling all of the games of the Los Angeles regional on CST will be two time Louisiana sportscaster of the year and CST announcer, Lyn Rollins. Rantz, who is a former LSU pitcher, will join Rollins in the booth.

This season marks the first time since 1989 that the LSU Tigers will begin regional play on the road when they began postseason play in College Station, Texas, against Texas A&M. Additionally, this season will be the seventh straight year of CST televising an NCAA regional across its network and 13th total regional or super regional for Jumbo Sports.

CST is available to the following Cable and Satellite providers: Cox Communications (New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Grammercy, Plaquemine, Baker, Denham Springs, Gonzales, Franklin, Abbeville, Crowley, Lafayette, New Iberia, St. Martinsville); Suddenlink (Alexandria, Bastrop, Bossier City, DeRidder, Jonesboro, Lake Charles, Minden, Natchitoches, Ruston, Winnfield); Allen’s TV Cable (Morgan City, Grand Coteau); Bailey Cable (St. Francisville); CP-TEL (Natchitoches); EATEL (Ascension Parish, Baton Rouge); Kaplan Telephone Company (Kaplan); Reserve Telecommunications (Reserve); Spillway (Maringouin, Butte Larose); Squire Creek (Choudrant); Larose (Vision); Comcast (LaPlace, Houma); CMA (Belle Chasse, Blanchard); Sulphur (Cameron Communications); Trust Cable (Clinton); CamTel (Cameron, Grand Lake, Moss Buff) and on satellite through DISH Network (New Orleans, Baton Rouge).

In Arkansas, CST is seen on Suddenlink (Arkadelphia, Hot Springs, Jonesboro, Malvern, Pocahontas, Russellville, El Dorado, Magnolia, Clarksville, Morrilton, Batesville, Mountain Home, Heber Springs); Cox Communications (Berryville, Fort Smith, Harrison, Northwest, Siloam Springs, Fayetteville, Springdale); and Community Cable (Monticello).

Texas residents in Athens, Bryan, Georgetown, Gladewater, Henderson, Jacksonville, Paris, Sulphur Springs, Tyler, Minneola and Winnsboro watch CST on Suddenlink.

Cox Communications systems in Florida (Gainesville, Ocala, Pensacola, Fort Walton); Georgia (Centerville, Byron, Macon, Warner Robins); and Virginia (Fairfax County, City of Fairfax, Falls Church, Herndon, Vienna, Clifton, Fredricksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania) also enjoy programming on CST.

CST is also picked up on DISH Network in Mississippi inn Hancock and Pearl River Counties and on Trust Cable in Gloster and Centreville.

I tend to disagree. They have picked up other Cox baseball games broadcast during the season.
