1. If you are a UF fan, athletic dept employee or recruit you should be doing back flips right now. Yes it wasn't a great way to handle it but to get such an offer and to go that far and still feel the need to return to the Gators says a lot either about how bad the Majic are or how much how enjoyed coaching the gators. Either way everyone in gator land should be happy including Donavans bosses.

  2. I think he needs to be slapped around a bit before the hugging. Imagine if Tony Soprano were the AD...maybe a belt whipping, a few punches, then off to the 'Bing for a few drinks and a round of 'welcome back' hugs. Oh, and a nice shiner to make him - and everyone else - remember not to pull this cr*p again.

Saban would be a much better employee if someone had stood up called him on the carpet. Do it now with this guy.

  3. bs. nothing you can do about it. you obviously want the best coach around so he can do as he pleases in that regard. same way saban cheated on us every 6 months with different bitches.

donovan is more successful, more proven and a fan favorite. he can do this to UF or any other school and they will like it or learn to. just the nature of the beast. You cant penalize coaches for leaving. if he gets 8 gazillion somewhere else hes already quitting.

saban or donovan's agent would never allow a buyout if they're worth their salt. they dictate everything because they know they make their own rules. saban not so much anymore once he bails on the gumps but up til now, yes.
  4. yeah, i was actually harkening to it as a quote from ari from entourage which michael scott then took as his philosphy on taking dwight back after his betrayal but
    whahevah!!!
  5. There has to be more going on here than meets the eye. I highly doubt its the heart felt tug to Florida that is making Donovan reconsider. Something may have happened in the first 2 days at Orlando that made him think this isnt for him. Either Orlando itself or the NBA setup but I doubt Florida is the real reason he wants to go back.
  6. I think many things came to the forefront. He realized he made the wrong decision because he wasnt happy after signing his contract and announcing his decision. He realized that how hard it would be for him to make a turnaround since it is already difficult enough to have NBA players listen to a college coach. He is getting paid 2M more a year with a 82 game schedule and tons of pressure. His family might not have been all that happy about the move, etc...

Whatever the reason, Florida will have Billy D as their coach for many more years. He has now tarnished his image with the NBA and it is unlikely that any team will take a chance at him in the near future.
  7. I actually don't think they're gonna manage to fine him that much. While I agree that they should, I feel that Billy has all the leverage with them. If they don't let him leave on his terms, he will be forced to coach for the Magic when he doesn't want to be there, which would be much more disastrous for the organization than not getting some money from Donovan for leaving.

  8. He wouldnt have been forced to coach the team anyway. If they didnt let him out of this contract he would have still coached at Florida and paid the fines. Since they let him off, he doesnt have to pay the fines.
  9. I think he did what Saban should have done. I think he knows he is a college coach and won't be happy in NBA regardless of money. He didn't sign anything with Orlando, there will be no fines, job was not offered to VCU coach.

  10. Orlando could have gone after Donovan even if a contract was not signed. It was a verbal agreement, evidenced by his announcing to the media. They also sold 200 season tickets after the announcement, which would also give Orlando an opportunity to get money out of Donovan. He is not getting fined because he was exempted from his agreement.
