An Ol' Boy Democratic ex-Georgia Governor is behind this by the name of Joe Frank Harris.

The Board of Regents is one of the few Democratic bastions of power left in the state.

Meanwhile, most of the students are conservative and riding on HOPE scholarships. All-SEC Ely-Kelso is on a HOPE.

Most people despise Adams, but the real buttwipe behind all this is Joe Frank Harris.

Hey Gumborue, just out of curiosity, where in this post were you able to deduce that this had anything to do with religious fanatacism or catering to it? Does every ultra conservative opinion automatically equate to religious fanatacism? I could understand if there was some reference or quoting of bible scripture, but I sure don't see it. And as a note, the bible does not say you should not drink, it says you shouldn't get drunk....so, trying to ban alcohol is not biblical.

Sounds like more of a CYA from a liability standpoint. And it's just grandstanding anyway, hard hold someone accountable when they publicly denounce the activity. But hey, if lumping it in as religious fanatacism fits your agenda then so be it...

That sounds about right. Most of Funroe's residents can be described as those who were born there and those who arrived for something like work or school - but both intend on moving.

Good luck to your wife in school.
