i dont dislike JR as a QB, he can do some amazing things... just makes u think when MF comes in cold and sets the world on fire.
I'd rather him throw the safe pass and complete it than try to force it. He is completing the safe pass and putting us in a position to win. He is doing his job.
When it was over... Take your pick. When it was rescheduled from Sept. 3, when it kicked off tonight, or when LSU scored its first TD just 3:28 into the game. Game Ball... Backup QB Matt Flynn. He went 7-for-7 for 139 yards and 3 TDs in the fourth quarter. Although we're not sure about the wisdom of throwing that much with a 35-3 lead after three periods. Stat of the game... 9: North Texas came in the game last in the country in scoring offense at 10 points per game. That average is now lower by one point. from espn.com
MF came in when the tigers were up 35-3 right? At that point the game is over. All North Texas wants to do is go home. Do you think MF would have done the same if he started? Don't get me wrong MF did a great job as the back up and I am comfortable if he comes in, but JR is 11-1 as a starter. Why complain if he is leading us to a victory.
JR has completed near 70% of his passes, and another 20% have been dropped. He is almost always on target but sometimes he tries to knock the target down. I don't see him staring down his receivers as mucha some, it just seams to me when it is obvious that he is doing it he makes a mistake. Overall he has only made two horrible decisions all season. The INT on the short pass against UF and the pick tonight was blatent staring down receiver and it looked like he pulled up when he saw the defender. I don't know, may have just been a bad toss. Flynn definetely made the most of his opportunity, and I hope he gets three quarters of work next week.
Biggest difference I saw between JR and MF is that JR almost always seems to hesitate on the WIDE OPEN recievers. He's done that all season. One WR will be just completely unguarded and it's like JR doesn't even see him. Frustrates me to no end. He waits so long that he usually ends up having to make a great throw to complete the pass, and it's almost always to someone other than the dude who was originally open. MF wasted absolutely NO time hitting his open men. Dude looked solid, even if it was against a group of worn-out chumps.
