Guys, I usually watch the LSU games at the Abita brew pub, If I'm not at the game. One of my customers watches the game with me and he was a former assistant coach at Bama under Curry, Debose, Stallings, Shula, etc. We were watching the Iron Bowl and were talking about Landon Collins. He told me he talked to more than one of the coaches there that felt they had him locked up...because of this girl. I asked him if he had ever seen the "new girlfriend" pool at LSU. and he said. "It happens all the time...that someone goes somewhere because of a girl." He said crazy things happen in recruiting. For a while he was recruiting coordinator at Bama.
There's a lot of coaching shakeups out there and I'm hoping Bama loses a few coaches on their staff...and things change for Collins...It ain't over till it's over. But I remember being in love when I was that age...puppy love or not, it's an extremely powerful emotion that takes you completely over. Very strong !!! BHelm, what are you hearing?
Would be interesting to see how many out of state students with the same grade/after school activities has the girl friend get a full ride to Bama.
I wss curious as well. Is she receiving a full-ride as a honor student or athlete? (or because her boyfriend can play football? :grin
If you don't take the opportunity to play for your home state school, who happens to be at the top of college football and will be for years to come, then see ya. Girlfriend my ass. He knows LSU is loaded and is scared to compete for playing time. BTW, if it's his lady then who has the nuts? Following right along like a little puppy.
They are playing the recruiting game and enjoying it. I know others at DHS were playing the game for him during the season. However, the bickering of LSU fans with the girlfriend, her mother, and Landon is not helping and making a game more personal and nasty.
I know its tough on these kids, like I always say......best of luck to him wherever he goes. Right now, LSU is by far one of the more stable programs in the nation, LSU will continue to do well on and off the field.
