For the love of Christ....WILL YOU PLEASE GET SOME FREAKIN SHOOTERS ON THIS TEAM. Yet again, LSU loses a big game with POOR shooting and even WORSE free throw shooting. The announcers said LSU was ranked 239 in free throw percentage. That is PATHETIC. I know these aren't Van's players, but I pray that he FINALLY gets some good shooters on this team. LSU is way too one-demensional. LSU should have blown UT out of the building, but not making anything outside the paint or free throws cost us a chance at the title.....AGAIN!
he has 8 signed and a bunch of them are shooters. IT will be a more offensive oriented team next year, I promise.
Next year will be quite a struggle, strictly because of inexperience. Unless Hightower decides to score 30 a game. She is the only player with experience. Not sure if this team will make the NCAAs. We will see what Van can cook up. No more great defense to rely on. We'll miss that.
it will be a work-in-progress, but they have 6 in the national top 100 signed and basketball is a sport where freshmen can play at a high level early (maya moore, syl, seimone, etc..). so if he finds 3-4 big-time contributors from the class, they will be fine. The girl to watch next year is Katherine Graham. She is a big-time player. BIG-TIME player. She didn't play this year, because she was behind Chaney and Hightower at SF, but she is a real solid player. She strokes it beautifully from 15 feet. Beautifully enough to where I wonder why Van doesn't roll the dice and give her a shot sometimes.
It depends who you talk to. I am of the belief it is Starkey's scouting and gameplans that make the team succeed. Outside of Fowles, you can't really name a great individual defender that LSU has ever had. Seimone never wanted to play D.
I hope they do well. They definitely recruited enough talent. That isn't in question. Those 6 players will form the nucleus of this team for the next 4 seasons. Should be fun to watch.
The plan is to actually redshirt 2-3 and maybe have just a 10 woman roster to break up the whole 8 senior thing. It's kinda dumb having a whole new team every 4 years, you know? I know they got 2 juco players for that purpose. That is also why he DIDN'T redshirt the 2 freshmen this year. to break them up a year from the 8 coming in.
