Not because he throws so hard but because he can't get it any where near the receiver.

    • That was completely uncalled for and should not have been said. Russell over Lane was just as much our choice as it was his decision, and both LSU and Lane will probably be second-guessing their moves in that deal for years to come.

He has said in interviews that we reneged on our promise to him that we were only going to be looking for 2 QB's (Lane & Flynn) and when Russell committed, he left for Ole Miss.

If this is true, I am disappointed in our coaching staff for making promises they can't or don't intend to keep.

Exactly right. But you know what? 18 year old kids, just like big D1-A football programs, have the right to keep their options open, especially considering big decisions that will impact the rest of their lives (like, what sport will I play/will I go pro?). And the Robert Lane I saw on that field tonight certainly didn't look like someone afraid to compete. Maybe, just maybe, it was a pride thing; wanting LSU to make him "The Man" no matter what and being miffed that we were questioning him, which we had every right to do, since we had been burned in the past by star recruits going to pro baseball on us. At any rate, it's neither his fault nor ours; it just didn't work out. Neither you nor me nor probably anyone else here knows the whole story, so I'd be cautious about smearing the kid and his whole family.

Tell the truth: maybe, just maybe, you are really upset because Lane is performing better than Russell (and before everyone jumps on me, I'm not saying Lane is a better QB than Russell, period, forever. I'm just saying that, right at this very moment, Lane is more ready to play as a QB than Russell)?

If so, that's fine. I'm very upset too about it. More than once, I've questioned whether or not LSU made the right decision pursuing Russell, or that maybe we got a little too greedy or a little too scared that Lane was going to go to MLB, and so we panicked and decided to hoard all the talent we could get at that position with very little regard for who was a genuine fit for us. I think it's too early to make that call. Unlike you, I'm not going to smear an 18 year old kid for doing what he thought was best for him. What's done is done, and I think we all need to just let Robert Lane go. LET IT DIE!

And I will wish him the best of luck in the future. I always want fellow North Louisiana boys to do well.

Bottom line is still the fact that this team does seem to keep putting up the 'W's. Something to bank on next year.

Although the "W"s have progressively gotten uglier.

Well he was #6 in the nation, not the best.

He is still a freshman. Campbell with Auburn pretty much sucked for 3 years. But LSU can't wait 3 years. This team has a favorable schedule next year and needs to get it done NOW.

    My views on Lane:

I was excited when I heard he was going to LSU, but was pissed as most were about his decision to go to Ole Miss instead. I remember a buddy asked me what I thought and I told him that Lane was going to pull a Booty and never play college ball and go straight to pro baseball. Looks like I was wrong.

Everyone is so pissed about Lane's decision. Here is a question for all you diehards. What about Lefors in Louisville? We never offered the kid a scholly and look what he is doing!!! You never know what is going to happen. We thought JR was going to be All-World, guess we were wrong. Two years is plenty of time to learn the offense. The kid has physical talent, no question about it, but he has a bag of rocks for brains.

Side Note: I hope Mr. Perrilloux was watching this game and sees that he has a strong possibility of starting at LSU.
