Wow, "elite" programs like Miami and FSU have 2 and 3 losses respectively. Last night FSU dedicated the field to Bowden. Tiger fans need to sit back and relax, our progam has arrived. Repeat after me: "We have a good football team." Good enough to beat Ole Miss last night and seven other teams and one play from beating Auburn. Trust me, five years from now no one will even care how we won our games, hopefully it will be ten by years end. As you know the unofficial theme song for LSU is "Eye of the Tiger" the theme song for Rock IV. The group that recorded the song is Survivor. Driving home from the game last night listening (and laughing at some of the callers) to 98.1 I thought about how this 2004 team does whatever it takes to win a football game. Passing game not working, no problem lets spring our two RBs fro 100+ and 200+ yards. This team is a SURVIVOR ! 2004, LET IT BE KNOWN AS THE YEAR OF THE SURVIVOR !!!!!!!
Well when it does, I will be the first one to say it does, no "crow" involved. Until that day I will continue to be objective and point out faults where I see them. Robert Lane showed more promise last night in this particular game than Russell. He has much less playing time this year, was in a hostile environment, playing against a great defense. At this point of the season Russell is no longer a redshirt freshman based on the game time he has had this year. He looks at his first option, if he's not open he freezes. He doesn't go to the next guy, he doesn't even throw the ball away. That's about as basic as you get when it comes to maturing as a qb. To this point, he hasn't done so and I see cause for concern. Looking through purple and gold colored glasses at his current performance doesn't change what it is. I admire your devotion and support, but at some point reality should take over in your analysis.
Hey, don't bring that positive attitude to this board ... the glass half empty fans will not like it! :sob: We are 8-2 and we suck! :dis:
Of course Saban said just this opposite this week when asked about it, I'll believe Saban myself. HYPE!!!! Never blame a kid for not performing to others expectations.
My mug of beer is always half full, that way it will NEVER be empty ! I prefer happy to sad any day of the week, especially when it comes to the Tigers. Their are legitimate criticisms of some parts of the team, but it wins and I'll take "ugly" wins over "dominating" losses any day of the week.
And nowhere in anything I have posted do a show a lack of respect for this football team. I haven't bashed Russell, I have given a fair and objective analysis of his play. Your "with us or against us" mentality is totally off base and unwarranted here.
right after the second game I replied to a post on here that JR was no better than MR and got flamed. I remember catching hell form all the folks I so aptly said were swingin from JR's private parts. All in fun for sure, I know it made some folks mad, but I was trying to make folks SEE. No I'm not right always LOL I've been accused of thinking this way. Just most of the time. All the Randall bashers have now turned in to Jamarcus bashers. I like both of these kids. Bless his heart, Randall just hasn't got massive amounts of talent to be a big gun arm like jamarcus. He has served well ( to the best of his ability ) and has got us out of a few scraps. You can't ask more than that. He probably won't be a big time NFL QB, but he will go down in Tiger FB history. :thumb: I like JR too, but I think he is progressing rather slowly in his learning curve. The problem is in big time college football today, we don't exactly have a huge time frame to let him learn for two years. That is and win too. this kid has had every oppurtunity and I sincerely HOPE he gets some feet under him and a head on soon. Fos HIS sake and LSU's sake, it's a mutual thing, we need him and he needs LSU FB. I am starting to have my doubts about the boy improving, but I think everyone is begining to see this. Here are my best wishes that he turns around and makes me look stupid by becoming an ACE in the backfield. I would LOVE to be so WRONG about JR and have to eat crow because he leads LSU to a 38-0 rout of ARK and then never looks back as a QB, becomes a GREAT QB all next year and throught his tenure at LSU. :thumb: If he doesn't progress soon, well bless him and hope he does ok, but at some point you have to cut bait. I wouldn't just write him out YET. He is still green. I would however HEDGE a few bets and get a QB with abilty's all the way around, not just a cannon arm. Just my .02cents. Oh and yes Saban fan and others, I was grateful and overjoyed at the win. I love the tigers and LSU. I am able to give an honest opinion about a player though and reserve that right, thank you.
You are fillibustering for Robert Lane, ignoring his stats (Which are poor..) completely, and the "with us or against us" mentality you refer to, is actually quite warranted IMO. This is an LSU board with LSU fans.
Wow, this thread is a real winner The one thing that stands out to me is one of FightinTIGER's post. Robert Lane a traitor? Gimme a break. Has FightinTIGER ever played on a sports team in his life, I doubt it. Robert Lane knew chances are he wouldn't get the pt at LSU like he would at Ole Miss not to mention the baseball thing so he was a better fit at Ole Miss than LSU. Last time I checked its a free country and if a QB from the state of Louisiana wants to play in Mississippi or Florida he should be able to just like one from Alabama or Florida should be able to play at LSU. Just like all football players from other states should be able to play at LSU. Do people at the Florida boards call our receivers from Florida traitors? Why don't people say the same thing about Brock Berlin? :dis:
