    * The SEC went 4-0 in non-conference games last weekend to bring its yearly total to 18-3, an 85.7 winning percentage. The percentage is tops in the nation (second: Big Ten, 26-7, 78.8%).

    * The SEC continues to lead the nation in team's ranked this week with six. In this week's USA Today Coaches' Poll, LSU is second, Florida third, South Carolina 14th, Alabama 20th, Georgia 21st and Kentucky 23rd. Already this season, nine different SEC teams have been ranked in the major wire service polls.

    * After three weeks, SEC stadiums are filled to 98.24 percent capacity. In 25 games, SEC attendance has been 1,913,374, an average of 76,535 fans per game. Seven of the 12 SEC schools have averaged 100 percent or more capacity this season.

    * Since 2002, LSU has the best record in the SEC at 55-13 (80.9 percent) with Georgia second (55-14, 79.7 percent) and Auburn third (51-16, 76.1 percent). Since 1997, Georgia has the SEC's best record (98-31, 76.0 percent) with Florida second (97-32, 75.2 percent) and Tennessee third (95-34, 73.6 percent).

    * Sept 22 in SEC History: 1962 - Joe Namath starts his first career game for Crimson Tide in 35-0 win over Georgia. 1962 - Charles McClendon coaches his first game at LSU (21-0 win over Texas A&M).

    * Vanderbilt's Earl Bennett has moved into the SEC's top 10 in career receptions. The junior from Birmingham, Ala., has 189 career catches, which is 7th in league history, for 2,395 yards.

    * Since 1992, LSU has posted a league-best 14 shutouts, including two this season. LSU is the only team to have posted at least one shutout in each of the last four seasons.

    * SEC teams have scored seven defensive touchdowns in three weeks (Mississippi State leads with two).

    * Three of the SEC's seven intra-conference games have been decided by five-points-or-less.

    * So far this season, SEC teams have had 66 offensive scoring drives of less than two minutes while there have been 17 drives of more than five minutes.

    * Florida (63.89%), LSU (60.53%) and Kentucky (58.97%) have scored on more than half of its offensive posessions. LSU has held opponents to three-downs-and-out on 54.05 percent of its defensive stands.

    * SEC teams are 21-0 when scoring first. Auburn and Tennessee have not scored first this season.

    * There have been 14 touchbacks on kickoffs by SEC kickers this season. South Carolina's Ryan Succop has six of them.

    * SEC teams are averaging 33.7 points per game this year, which would easily be the most by the league since conference expansion (previous high: 27.7 in 2001). The 404.2 total offensive yards per game by SEC teams would also be most by SEC since 1992 (previous high: 399.2, 2001). This past weekend, SEC offenses teams combined for an average of 33.83 points per game and 389 total offensive yards per team.

Some of those stats show a changing of the guard in offensive philosophy for the SEC. The offenses are trending towards being more wide open, it would seem.

Our defenses are still stout. Dominance for years to come?
