1. not crying THAT it's happening.
crying about who is getting CREDIT for it happening.

That missile strike wasn't dreamt up yesterday.
Chances are it has been a plan that has been developing since before Obama took office 2 days ago. Yet Obama gets full credit for the strike even though it was probably a joint effort.
  2. nootch, i agree and disagree. yes, this is likely a plan that has been developing for longer than the two days. this is an extension in what seems to have been a growing policy of going more after terrorists that are hiding in pakistan along the afghan border. a policy i was all for with bush and will continue to support under obama.

while obama gets credit because he is the one that probably gave the final go ahead, most reasonable people will recognize that this was a decision made originally by bush and obama in the know about. i also believe that this policy was one bush and obama agreed on and obama was kept fully briefed on before taking office so he was up to speed in continuing the policy.

i also believe that people who support the policy to strike terrorists in pakistan (and afghanistan) do so no matter who the president was/is.

and the press is pointing out that this isnt a new thing. per an ap article...

i dont think anyone is trying to fully give obama credit, other than the go ahead for this latest strike, but acknowledging it is a continuation of policy. the ap article is very clear on that, imo.

  3. In other news, the sky is blue.
  4. If the American people honestly believe that the tacticle forces were built up over nite to perform this attack, then they have not been watching the strategic military build up over the last yr. This attack was a joint decision that Pres Bush and Pres Obama had been discussing, at length, over the past few months.
  5. More than likely held off by Bush so it would result in better PR for Obama. I doubt at this point that Bush would care about brownie points. And it has been accurately pointed out that this operation could not get off the ground in two days.

Though obvious to everyone, Bush will receive no credit.
  6. maybe not for this strike, but from the article i read, it is clear that bush is getting credit for the policy and previous strikes and that this is a continuation of the policy.

i dont see whats bad about that. to me, it says that when you have a strike so soon after the new president takes office, that the articles are pointing out that it is just the latest, being that there have been 30 such strikes since august, it says that this policy of hunting down and wiping out terrorists in pakistan is going to happen regardless of the change in administration. thats a positive message, imo.
  7. I seriously doubt that Bush was terribly concerned about Obama's PR, like he needed more. This attack almost certainly came off as planned, and was not delayed for BO's benefit. Certainly, Obama was made aware of it and signed off on it. Good for him. Good news about the killings.

  8. While the brunt of the planning for this strike had to happen while Bush was still in office, and forgetting who should get "credit" for the strike, I take something very encouraging from this. Regardless of who came up with the strike, the strike could not have happened without Obama's go-ahead. The simple fact that we ARE making military strikes at all is a very positive sign, and a sign that we will not cower from terrorists under his presidency.

  9. You will see that disappear quickly enough. Obama lovers will not tolerate being linked to any Bush policy if they can help it.

Personally, I don't care who gets credit. As long as the right things get done. That happens little enough in our govt as it is.
  10. Kudos to the Bush Administration for developing this program to kill terrorists. Kudos to the Obama Administration for continuing the use of the drone missle strikes.

Why do partisan hacks feel the need to argue over who gets more credit?
