The only reference I could find about Reagan starting the crack revolution were stories about rumors to that effect that circulation mainly on black talk radio stations and in ultra liberal publications. From my little eastern NC world, there is ZERO evidence the economy is "booming" or that jobs are being created. Hatteras Yachts is dead, the big diary two streets down is dead. The shopping mall project tanked, even "The Country Kitchen" bailed at the last minute. The "big" 7% teachers pay raise, the first in 7 or 8 years, really just benefitted the very young teachers, and that was an election year ploy. The only growth industry in this small town had been the Department of Social Services. It has continually expanded over the last six or seven years. Not sure that is the growth segment we should be focused on.
