If you've never seen a pink-sky sunset, then you need to get out of Louisiana more.

I have shot down this crap previously. You are repeating yourself. I shall not. Re-read where appropriate.

You are dreaming. We are arming these people to fight ISIS. Obama has made this crystal clear. The reason these people are weaker is the emergence of ISIS which turned from attacking Assad to attacking the rebel Syrians as well. It's a complex three-way civil war that we have no intention of getting involved in other than hammering ISIS which helps both Iraq, Kurdistan, and the rebel Syrian.

Dude, I read the news. They are being armed and trained in Jordan and Saudi Arabia to fight ISIS. And they are not all that happy about us bombing their jihadist friends Al Nustra and Khorasan. I've been telling you for two years that these guys are not our friends. No player in Syria is a friend of the United States. Can you understand this. Can you grasp it? Can you grok this vital factor?

We arm these unreliable, allegiance shifting, anti-American militias because they are the enemies of our enemy. Until they go over to the enemy, as often happens in this part of the world. There is a very good reason for limiting our help for the Syrian rebels.

The unspoken truth is that the most likely force to occupy Syria if and when ISIS is defeated will be the Syrian army. Syria, for all of its hostility to Israel and its Soviet/Russian puppet state status was a largely secular country. It is the dictatorship of the Assad regime that has caused the rebellion and caused a weakening of the state that led to ISIS moving in. The best bet for Syria to end up NOT being an islamic state is for Assad to go and for the Syrians and the rebels to re-unite, rebuild, and take their own country back from ISIS. Our best strategy to achieve this may be to start talking with some senior generals and other high-ranking Syrians to engineer the overthrow of Assad from within and end that conflict.

But that will require patience and diplomacy. Not the immediate "action" that you imagine can cure all ills.

Red you ignore your own president's comments...you say you ignore what has been stated previously because THEY ARE FACTS as presented by multiple sources that conflict your with argument. You aren't debating you are creating a fantasy...a fantasy that was destroyed today by an editorial in the NY Daily News this morning Robert Ford by Obama's former ambassador to Syria point by point. Ford is respected by both sides as knowledgeable and serious about the subject. http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/...utm_content=252094354&utm_term=_593608_593669.

Dude, that article just backed up everything I've been saying! :D

"We’d like to see him weakened, since we want new negotiations for a new government, and it’s Assad who has refused to bargain."

"We’ve identified about 1,500 [rebel groups], but many are just four guys with a video camera. There are perhaps 15 to 20 serious ones. Many operate in only one or two geographic areas. They coordinate loosely with others in their areas."

"It helps us achieve our goal if we weaken some of the opposition by strengthening others."

"It only ends with a new government in Syria, a unity government that can rally most Syrians, a large majority, against ISIS."
Where does he say that Obama ignored his advisors? Where has he said that the rebels are not also fighting ISIS? What have I said that this article "destroyed"?

    http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2014/09/18/senate-set-to-vote-on-us-plan-to-arm-syrian-rebels-in-isis-fight/

The U.S. Senate passed a vote Thursday evening to arm Syrian rebels to fight the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria terror group, 73-22.

    http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/isis-terror/who-are-syrian-rebels-u-s-wants-arm-train-n207391

"Now that Congress has voted to authorize the training and arming of so-called moderate Syrian rebels, the United States will turn to some little-known figures to lead the fight against the ruthless militants of ISIS.

"The Syrian opposition is often referred to as the Free Syrian Army, but the FSA doesn’t exist as a single cohesive force, as the Carter Center pointed out in a report this week. It’s a constantly changing network of thousands of armed groups. From that network, the Americans hope to train and equip 5,000 rebel Syrian fighters within a year."

"Jamal Maarouf is the leader of a rebel alliance called the Syria Revolutionaries Front that is powerful in northern Syria. In a speech to fighters a week ago, he announced open war against ISIS and against the Syrian regime.

"The alliance has not hidden its relationship to the United States, and has said that its members are trained by the Americans in Turkey — a covert program that has been widely reported."
