So the Mets are a better team without Pedro and El Duque? And Christians are the ones who believe in magic?

Trachsel and Maine have zero post season experience. That's gonna be a factor. Glavine will win but it won't be enough. Too bad. I'd love to stomp the Metropolitans in a Subway Series.

Quick, whats Steve Tracshel's claim to fame???

Also, didn't he pitch for the Cubs in 98 when they made it to the play offs??

thats scary, i almost replied with the same thing but forgot. martin, why must you disillusion yourself to try and feel better about your team. just admit you and your team are now meaningless like your life and accept it.

    we have.

this season pedro hasnt had much to do with getting the mets where they are now. they didnt build that massive lead over the NL on pedro or el duque's shoulders. they won a ton of games with trax and maine and glavine. i was only showing you those numbers. that huge lead didnt come from nowhere. they built it with pitchers like glavine and trax.

i think he pitched in a one game tie-breaker thing for the cubs.

maine pitched 23 or so consecutive scoreless innings at one point this season.

i saw oliver perez in person once this yer at shea. he threw a complete game shutout against the braves.

of course his slot probably wont come up when the dodgers go down in 3.

When I heard about El Duque going down, I thought they were done.

Then I starting thinking to myself, that the Mets didn't do that great with Pedro on the mound in the first place. And El Duque was all over the map until just recently. So those stats aren't surprising. Unfortunately this is playoff time and the pressure is racheted up a notch or 2. I would rather see Pedro and El Duque handle that pressure, rather than Maine and Oliver Perez.

The great news for the Mets is they have ample good arms in that bullpen to pull starters after 4 innings. So a short leash indeed might be the order of the day for Mr. Randolf for the entire duration of the playoffs. I hope the Mets decided on keeping 7 relief pitchers instead of only 6 (not counting the starter they were gonna use in long relief).

I would use Bradford and Hernandez to complete the middle innings of these games, when necessary. Just keep alternating them. Then use your big guns from the 7th inning on.
