willis McGahee did the same thing... with roles reversed and him playing another college season, he would have been on the list... I guarantee... A torn ACL is hardly a "shredded" knee... it happens all the time, and peopel recover from it all the time
I use the term "shredded" loosely, trust me. I think Alley will be fine, but in the eyes of the national pundits, while he IS a fine runningback, the fact of the matter is that LSU has a long history of producing great running backs. We've sent a lot of backs to the NFL, but we also have anywhere between 2-3 runningbacks EACH year sharing the load. So that means that none of them will lead the nation in rushing, etc.
id definitely take a shot on alley with long odds over all the rest. what you have to do though is predict who will win the NC first. then work your way backwards. I dont think LSU has much of a shot next year but im not sure who has what returning either. count texas out w/o young as far as im concerned. im pretty shocked oklahoma is such a big favorite. i could see OSU winning it due to Ginn and Smith but if their defense is hurting as our Iowa resident pointed out, then maybe not. smith was simply awesome against ND. even though it was a bunch of slow whiteys he made some great plays.
I agree with that... but Les didn't share the load like ole NS did, so if he is the man, I think he can get 25-30 carries a game, and with that, I think he can get 120-130 yds a game... We are definately getting well ahead of ourselves here, but all I am hearing is that he is doing beautifully in his rehab
I know there are five BCS bowls next year. Your post was confusing, as the Fiesta does host the BCS title game and is the "plus one" bowl.
I didn't know it was a both deal... I thought it was either/or... My champ for next year is going to be wide open... Ohio St can't be good with 2 defensive starters coming back Texas lost mr. all world USC lost the 1st 2 picks in the NFL draft LSU has a hard road schedule I think we actually may have a shot
its not an either/or but when it comes down to the end next year, the heisman winner will likely be a team in the NC picture and likely playing in the Fiesta Bowl. I guess i could USC being the most talented team once again and Lendale would be atop the ballots if he returned, especially after his showing in the Rose. 4 of the last 5 heisman winners would then be from USuCk. and you all thought their media hype was over? this could be brutal.
that goes without saying. My experience tells me these coaches who have excellent first years that are unexpected usually suffer some mishaps the following year. therefore, im guessing weis and spurrier do worse their second years with no other reasoning.
that is a great post... I agree 100%... they will both have better teams and probably not have a better record, b/c the initial fizzle the players had for playing for these guys will wear off a bit it happened to parcells in dallas too
