If we were getting the kick blocked or the defensive rush was rushing the kick I would say otherwise. Most of our problems in the kicking game have just been poor kicks. You will get some improvement kicking with a lot practice, but I sure as hell wouldn't expect alot.
I want the coaches to scour the nation looking for the best kicker out there and offer him (or her ) a full scholly. We haven't had a dependable placekicker since Browndyke.
I'd like to think Jackson can be that guy, but I don't like him performing all the kicking duties. Jackson is young and has a strong leg, so I expect him to get better. Fisher is a mystery to me, sometimes he punts very well and other times he just can't get it done. Gaudet is just not getting it done, then again the missed extra point after the TD this weekend is making it tough for me to think straight. Bringing in a new face next season might be the best thing.
There are lots of foreign students at LSU who are good at soccer. I used to see them all the time kicking a soccer ball around when I was in school and I still see some of them playing soccer sometimes when I drive on Nicholson Dr north of the PMAC. Some of them can kick the ball pretty damn good. I would round up the best of them and give them tryouts at placekicker. I'll bet there is somebody on campus who dosen't know a football from a pinata or a pina colada but who could become LSU's all time greatest kicker.
