i dont see a problem with glen being out there. i think its an easier way to get him the ball. he gets the ball, he should give it up and quickly get it back before the D is in his face. its easier for the D to double/front him if he sits on the block.

If you and Hawthorne think that was a good time for a technical then i must disagree with both of you.

Brady lost his cool and it is one thing to argue a call it is another to pull a Bobby Knight and go running on the floor. It looked high school to me and i am usually a Brady defender.

We had just pulled to 11 down and that was not the time to change momentum.

The time for the technical was earlier in the game when we went down by 10 to 12 and the refs had started their bs. Then get one to motivate your team if that is what your intention is.

That is just my take on it anyway. There are times where a technical is not a bad thing but i just thought we had a little momentum going and it stopped the game and we never really got it going again.

Done. Check out the Hoops Recruiting Threads. Staff knows this.

DJ Wright (over 60% from 3 point land)
    Garrett Green (tall shooter)

    Anthony Randolph. 6'10" shotblocker
    Q Thornton. 6'9" PF.

It's just too bad they're not here now. Not crying over spilled milk, but Darrell Arthur becoming a Tiger would have been HUGE. We had a lot of ground to cover, but MAN that guy alongside Big Baby would have been incredible. After seeing Rolle struggle the way he has, Arthur would have been starting and getting 15 and 8 along side Big Baby...

    The Starters Need To Be:
    Temple - 1
    Martin - 2
    Mitchell - 3
    Lazare - 4
    Davis - 5

    Key Reserves
    Mason - 2/3
    Minor - 1
    Voogd - 1
    Chris Johnson - 4/5
Brady is not going to play him, and I dont know why, but I've seen him a lot. And he can play!!
Brady should have played Johnson a lot early on when we were beating teams so that he could get his confidence up. Early on this season I use to go to the practices and Chris blocks shots and rebounds. That is what we are obviously missing (a defensive presence in the middle)

That starting 5 is a damn good team. Brady has the personnel to win a lot of games this year. Its still early, but he needs to maybe tweak his offense so that the guys can get some chemistry.

Chris Johnson cant do any worse than what Rolle is doing.

We have a little time, but I am concerned!!

I actually agree. From what I've seen, I like your starting 5. Martin is long, defends reasonably well, and has a nice stroke. Mason is an athletic guy taking it to the hoop, but he's shorter than Martin and isn't quite as pure from the outside. Lazare is adequate at PF and when he's 100% he does hustle, rebound and he lateral defense is good and can keep guys off the blocks better than Rolle.

For now, given what we have, I also think looking at Chris Johnson is a worthwhile experiment. From the limited time I've seen him, he does have length and can jump. He gets muscled down low, but maybe he can be active enough to block some shots. I also think he's a better shooter than Rolle (including free throws--so if he's active and gets fouled at least he's not a liability on the line like Johnson).

We'll see alot of experimentation against La Tech this weekend. If I'm Brady, I let Big Baby have just enough time to get his confidence back. Play him 20-25 minutes and make sure Johnson, Rolle and Lazare get a lot of time down low. Also focus on getting Martin and Mason more involved in the offense, driving to the hoop.

im actually coming around on Tack. i think this teams best chance to be good is to play him and pray. he really can do things on both ends. ive seen precious little from mason. martin has value from 3 and has length, but can he play d.

    id start. minor-1, martin-2/3, temple-2/3, mitch-4 and glen.

except for glen, this team seems to be made for the press. length and poor shooting. dont seem to finish well though. might be the only way that guys that are 6'10 and weigh 200# can perform, too.

I can't remember, were you down on Tack? :) I think your line up might work, as you say, if we're committed to an up tempo game AND the assumption is that Lazare is not 100%. I'd like to give Minor the reins more b/c I think he gives the team more speed at PG and I think if he gets his confidence 100% back he may surprise, but I think it totally depends on the match ups. If Lazare is healthy, he needs to play some good minutes--he's one guy that doesn't mind hustling, playing d and getting rebounds and takes smart shots--you need that when you've now got Temple, Mitchell and Martin that can all shoot.

But, I agree, Brady may in some instances go "small" and this might be the line up we see. Honestly, I think you may see more pressing in the late-middle parts of the half when the other team's tired or not expecting it. We do have some depth with Minor and Mason who excels more in an uptempo game, so you could almost take Mitchell and Glen out for a breather and go with Minor, Mason, Temple, Martin and Lazare for a stretch to give you some defensive jumpstart. BUT, remember that it all comes back to Tyrus. If you press it's nice to have a shot blocker to keep folks from just taking it to the rim. Rolle hasn't shown that, and you probably don't want Big Baby, who's not the best shot blocker in the world and your best offensive option, exposed.

The good news is that we have La Tech, and three more manageable teams, to experiment. I for one would like to see Brady play with the zone d and press more in these games.
