Huge effort by Dirks today. Thats back to back weekends that either the 2 or 3 pitcher has stepped up and had a huge game. When will Mestey get his? Everyone talks about a rotation shake up. But, if you shake up the rotation it could put more pressure on dirks and he could faulter. Thats a tough decision to make.

CJ is simply a player. he can handle a bat similar to ichiro. not imposing to look at but can simply get the ball in play. to open the game I think he made Land throw 10 pitches to him. those are the little intricacies of baseball that good leadoff players do even when they make outs. then the hit and run and he plops one through the hole where they were holding the runner on. you can't teach that stuff and for CJ to roll out of spring practice and do this simply shows he knows the game. ryno was awesome as usual. even his out was 395 feet to dead center. every move smoke made paid off. pinch hitting hebert, first AB homer. pinch hit Mayer (subbed after ejection), first AB homer. Hebert still cannot hit a curve. I could strike him out with my opposite hand if I threw one. smith has impressed me simply by making the switch from the pen yet being so effective. dirks has been nails. as bad as Lane was friday, he didnt allow a run after the 4th inning. Hell no runs allowed after the 4th on friday. As i said, you dont overreact and change your rotation, especially when the others are settled in. if you make a change, you let somoene else start with a quick hook to lane on fridays but given lane is this team's heart, you let him work his way out.
