So, from what I'm reading, we won on talent alone. I'm guessing that if we'd lost or kept it close, that would've all been on the coaching. My dad was a coach for 30 years--we've sat in the stands and heard it all before. Geaux Tigers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man our punt and punt coverage team is AWESOME. How many <10yd downs have we had this year? We did that versus three different teams, they can't all suck...we must be that good on punt coverage and punting. Nice to pin opponents back there a few times a game. If we keep doing that, it's going to win us a game this year.
Ok, i didn't get a chance to listen or watch the game today.... anyone have any feel for how this team rebounded... how the defense worked today... or any other points of note they took away from the game today?
From my take, sounds like the team got the crap scaried out of them after the first play. I think people need to realize that this type of defense is not the rock solid type that saban had BUT it will stop the "Big Play" from happening. Offense sounded solid, JR needs to learn that he cant do it all and needs to get rid of it when there is NOTHING there. SP Teams is just UNREAL! If we ever get into a game of field postion no doubt that we will win.
If you listen to dutchtown and a couple other posters you will hear that the coaching sucked once again and we won by talent alone. I can't really attest to that because I only got to listen to the game but it seemed like Pellini changed up his scheme a little and sent more blitzes. Also, jimbo seems to have called a less conservative game but I only listened to the game so I can't really guarantee anything.
Defense - Connor was running for his life. We put consistent pressure on him. The defenders were playing tighter coverage overall. It is hard to tell if MSU offense was so inept or whether our defense was that good. Except for one blown coverage, defense was excellent Offense - Was OK. Russell definately needs to learn to throw the ball away. Our pass blocking is a little suspect as well. Niswanger injury could be big if he is out for a while. Miller played OK in his place. The offense threw a lot of bubble screens and short stuff but did try some more downfield passes. JR still leads his recievers in to big hits over the middle though. I hope he doesn't get one killed. We scored 37 but called off the dogs when Flynn came in. Flynn was mediocre again he was playing a more vanilla offense than before though.
we just beat a pathetic football team-Fact. We looked Ok on offense and at times OK on defense. I agree with some previous posters. MSU is no guage for our team. I can tell you this, we are not playing with the same flair as the previous couple of years. IMO we just don't have the team chemistry to beat a Florida or a Bama and certainly not a USC---something's missing and I wish we could find it. I'm trying hard to be optimistic and upbeat but I can't see this years team playing in a major bowl at the end of the year.
yes we won because of talent difference, not because of execution. both lsu lines dominated msu. jr still looks bad very conservative O. (not saying it shouldnt have been that way, but not much practice for when we need to score) still some confusion in secondary. just cant take much away from this game. hopefully this and the Vandy game give us practice to be sharp against UF
UGA struggled to beat MSU 23-10. Auburn beat them 28-0. SC struggled to beat ASU ... the same team we struggled to beat. Try to be more objective....
