well, bama isnt nearly as good as i thought (at least at this point) and LSU shot like crap. and bama is lucky for it. glen kept LSU in the game with his off rebounding--i didnt expect that with hendrix down there. glen's damn was good on the offensive boards (but surprisingly enough, according to the #s, not as good as rolle). i was actually wanting tack to shoot more. the two new guys were 2-16. hope thats a blip. expected this loss, but better win the next two or things get too interesting. at ark, at uga, at msu, bama, tenn and ark could all be losses--still six games after that.
everyone shoots better... temple will make SOME of those ugly 3's taz CAN make those mid range shots but was not tonight Martin just is on a cold streak Magnum still sucks
Some random notes.. LSU is just not a good shooting team. Take Davis' numbers out and they shot 29% tonight. Temple doesn't look confortable at PG and has been really been struggling with his shooting. If Tack would stop playing like he is on PCP he might make a good PG. Mason doesn't seem to be immune from Tackisms. His shot selection leaves a lot to be desired. Davis played very well but I wish he would stop taking 3's. That's not the shot we want. He played his ass off tonight though and you could tell he was hurting. Hats off to him. I heard Rolle has 2 bulging discs in his back. Is that true?
I suppose I should get used to this... the Brady bashers will come out after every loss I suppose. And, they'll either be negative or just plain ignorant about basketball. I don't need to spin it. We lost a game on the road to the team most folks predicted would win the SEC west, and which was ranked higher. LSU didn't shoot the ball well outside of Glen, and Bama hit threes when they aren't a particularly good 3 point shooting team. Our defense was actually alright, and our offensive rebounding was tremendous despite the fact that we actually were smaller. The negatives are, as has been pointed out, we can't afford to have ALL of our perimeter shooters be cold. In light of that fact, I actually thought we did alright to keep the game within 6-8 towards the end. I thought Magnum Rolle had his moments and I'm encouraged actually by his hustle. I think we reverse things when 'Bama comes to Tigertown, and we split with our West rivals. The key will be winning the other games that we should win and perhaps 'Bama stumbles. I didn't expect us to win tonight, honestly. You can call me "spinning" that, but after 'Bama got blown out by the Hogs, and the Tigers coming off a win against UConn... I expected a let down. It's the first game of the SEC season for goodness sake...
I've never been more impressed with the desire of any sports player in my entire life than I have of Glen Davis. His hustle and determination is unmatched. He is such a hard worker, he is a Dale Brown kinda guy! I wish I could meet him so that I can tell him this!
Direct TV along with Knology's package for phone, cable, and Internet. Got a steal on it 3 years ago for 89 bucks a month...locked in. If you can list one, just ONE, example of something worthwhile being posted on AL.com...you are owed a buck or two.
Davis is just a "fair" rebounder ... only 17 boards last night. Let's bench Davis and go with a smaller lineup so we can run up and down the court faster. :hihi:
I'll be honest. At this point I'm just pulling your chain. There's no reason after the supposed summer of work put in that we should still be shooting in the low 30's. We had so many wide open looks that weren't even close... and you can't say that's an off night because LSU historically simply doesn't shoot that well. I think more needs to be done on offense for us to get these perimeter shooters more comfortable looks within the context of the offense. No arguments from me. It's just disappointing to me that we continue to shoot poorly in big games and we haven't done anything to get these shooters better looks.
I was at the game and we had our chances... Bad shooting comes from good defense. I was not impressed though with Mason's shooting ability and Martin seemed to just be overwelmed by a very tough defense. We rarely had an uncontested shot. The game boiled down to 4 or 5 plays and Bama made all of them. I have never seen more balls go in and out in one game for us.. was scarey.... Positives are that again GT shut down the best point guard in the league even though he is only running at 70 percent. I thought the fact that we did not go to the line in the first half was absurd. Baby was getting mauled in the lane. Bama shot 9 free throws in the first half. I guess the officials wanted to keep their jobs. We played the preseason ranked winner of the west down to the wire in their gym with their backs to the wall. 0-1 is not bad.. 0-2 is what Bama faced and it was a must win game. See you in Baton Rouge... What is it about that in Bradys tenure he has had to start 7 out of 9 years on the road in the SEC??? Oh by the way.. our former coaches shirt was not crimson but purplish.. this is nothing more than a job for him... life for him was in Baton Rouge. There is no doubt he is regretting everyday that he left.
