Sounded like they had a good following for the game in oxford. Thats good to see a group support them like that. Maybe they had more then some home games? haha Just Joking there. But, I'd hope that with the excitement around this team, they would be able to but some butts in there on Saturday. Thats justa hope of mine though. Grad I do agree with you about the fans at the game though. They def showed there colors throughout. The whole game you'd hear LSU LSU.

too much cliche' speak. next thing you're gonna say is you think we need good guard play come tournament time. really?

fact is LSU has beaten good teams this way many times thisyear and with road games you can expect most teams to struggle regardless the opposition. you generalize far too much instead of just seeing that this team wins.

finding ways to win is the true test of a good team given the ever changing variables from game to game.

motivation differs for each game for all teams, therefore you can never predict how close a game will turn out yet you can judge it by who wins.

the team has won 12 of the last 14 in SEC play. some pretty, some ugly. bottom line is they find ways to win. thats whats needed, nothing more.

I agree I've always said that good teams find a way to win. Thats great. I think this is a good team with potential to do something special. With that being said, some of the teams LSU has gotten by on the road are teams they should get by on the road. It was sorta like the football team, the benefitted from the SEC being down last year and they out talented teams down the stretch. Thats why many of there games were close in the first half then they closed it out down the stretch. But, thats what good teams do.

But, what happens when instead of playing a team like Ole Miss who doesnt have the horses for it, or Auburn, what happens when they play a really good team in the tourney? This is in no way a slam on them b/c I think the fact that they are doing what they are doing is great. I'm hoping they do some major damage in the tourney. But you just wonder if they can overcome poor shooting and slow starts in the dance. I'm curious to know.

you're missing the point. those games are mutually exclusive. you can't motivate a team which has locked up an NCAA bid the same as you can during trny time so its completely irrelevant. A midweek, somewhat meaningless road game to a subpar team. This is why teams often lose these types of games after winning a huge one. There are so many variables that come into play, the fact they win supercedes everything else.

Not to mention it was senior night for Ole Miss and their focus for this game was likely much higher than it was for LSU. If you followed sports you'd already know these factors are much more important than what type of defensive we ran as opposed to theirs. its almost laughable.

if we had lost, then you'd have a valid point but we won....again. when we lose out of the trny then you can pretend you know what you're talking about all over again.

LSU lady tigers struggled with Aubarn both at home and on the road. That just won't cut it in the tourney against a good team.....................

Some teams just play very well against others. It happens. Ole Piss is to the men as Aubarn is to the women.

There you go again giving me hell for no reason. I understand it's tough to get up for a mid week game. I know it's tough to get up for road games in front of 3500 people. I know this. I also understand it was there senior night and they may have played and inspired game and all this. But this is not just tonite that i'm talking about. I'm referring to all year. Well, atleast recently. They did that at Tenn, at Arky, at Auburn, At Ole Miss. They've also done it a few times at home. I agree, good teams find a way to win and they have. I understand it's tough to win road games in the SEC. I see all your points there. I see that it will be a lot easier to get up for a game in the tourney then to get up to play Ole Miss. I'm just saying , if they come out in a tourney game like they have recently it could mean trouble. I'm saying nothing more or less there. I'm not taking ANY credit from them. All your points were valid. I honestly know what its like to try to play in front of a sparse crowd in somewhat meaningless game. I know what its like going into a game in that situation looking to blow someone out. You mention that maybe there focus wasnt as sharp as that of Ole Miss b/c of senior night and all this, but shouldnt it be? I mean they are playing for the West Title arent they? They need these games to keep pace with Bama. Just a thought.

you don't get it. the fact is yes, they want to win the west but the ultimate goal is to make the trny which they did before tonight. therefore, they cannot be motivated the same tonight as they were the last game. they're human. no one can play at their highest level game to game on any level of competition. last game was far more important than this one and they knew it. yes they are playing for the west title but it doesnt change a thing. this was a trap game that LSU found a way to win which shows this team has what it takes to not play well and still win.

one day you will need to understand these factors better than you do.

If you really dont understand or believe Ole Miss was much more psyched to play this game than LSU then I give up. thats why the line on the game was 2 points. Oddsmakers were saying with that line that Ole Miss would win and its because of all those variables you fail to see.

My previous post I was agreeing with you about the fact that they were more pysched to play the game then LSU was. I AGREE with you there. I understand that. My point is this, It seems that in first half of many games this year the Tigers have just hit cold spells. It's happened a lot recently. But, they've been good enough to overcome it. You have to realize that I'm agreeing with what your saying Tirk. Your just taking it out of context. I still think that the Tigers should have been atleast somewhat pumped , which they probly were. Your right, there was no way they'd match the emotional high of Ole Miss. Thats fine. But, If i'm playing for the SEC west title, playing for that banner in the PMAC, and playing to help my tourney seeding, I'm going to be fired up. I know that there is no way to match a teams intensity early on senior night. The topic of my initial post was to say that the Tigers have to avoid those kinda lulls. It's fine to have those against an Ole Miss or an Auburn cuz you can out talent them down the stretch. But what happens when you meet up with a Kentucky, or UNC or whoever. But as you said and I agree, there will be a lot more at stake and they should be more fired up. You mention gettin up for big games though, remember the bama game? The Tigers got out fast and scored 18 b4 the first offical TO. Then they only scored like 12 the rest of the half. That was a big game. They were up for that, and they still had a lull. That really cant happen come big dance time. Thats all I'm sayin. Again, to let it be known , I was agreeing with all your points, I was just adding to them.

well obviously it would be best for any team not to go through lulls but the fact of the matter is all teams do and will. you hope to reduce the lapses but there's no way to avoid them. Most games I watch, one team will go on a run for long stretches. often times i hear team x didnt score a fg from 7 minutes left til the very end.

I dont follow the lines for college hoops but i did hear that LSU was favored by 2. obvious trap game which LSU could have easily lost and one vegas was thinking we would. auburn was another tough test for similar reasons. the toughest games often arent against the best teams. its the lesser teams when focus and motivation wane. you can try to convince yourself all you want that they were playing for the west, their seed and other hooplah and each time you do you're showing you don't quite get it. You have to judge each from one game to the next and the bottom line is this was a lackluster game for LSU and their true character came through as they found a way to win.

I agree with you on the lackluster game. But, I disagree about not having the west in mind. I mean thats motivation enough right there. Knowing you have to win the game to keep hope for the West alive for me would be motivation. Again, you and I may differ on this but I respect your opinion on it dude. I dont think me making this comment shows that "I dont get it". It just shows that my opinion differs from yours. Neither one of us is right here. Check that, were both right in certain aspects, but the big picture is not completely right or wrong on each side.
