its ok you don't get it. I'll keep explaining it since I do. there is no way to motivate a team every game regardless what carrot you dangle in front of them. if you think winning the west is enough to motivate the team to play at a high level then by that comparison every team in every conference on every level would play at the peak because given that situation, they are playing to win their conference outright. ya see, teams always have goals to play for. coaches have to pick their spots on which games to put emphasis on. the same way New England lost to Miami on monday night. Im sure Belichick didnt put as much emphasis on that game as he did before they had already clinched the playoffs. And thats only 16 regular season games. Emotions are much more unpredictable for a hoops schedule of 18-21 year olds. Coaches have to pick their spots and Im sure Brady wasnt pulling out all the stops for ole myth because it was definitely a game we could afford to "let up" once you understand the last two months this team was playing "must win" games or they were out.
I honestly did not know that they put up banners for division championships... Hardly ever loook up at the rafters.
I get what your saying Tirk. I know now everyone can be motivated all the time. But at this point in the season, I think its safe to say that that should be some motivation. I'm not saying back in January to be motivated for that. You dont know how the seasons gunna pan out up to that point. But, with two games left in the year, knowing you can win your division with two wins ( or atleast stay in the race for it) that should be motivation enough. Who knows, maybe they were motivated by that and just ran into a buzz saw like you said.

damn straight! this game had "let down" written all over it. we knew ole miss would play tough. im just impressed the tigers fought through it. ncaa tourney games will be different. wish i couldve seen the game. couldnt really tell what d ole miss played. they usually play man, but zone is more effective against us. bet they played a lot of match up zone. doesnt seem like we attacked it too well, but then again we missed tons of layups and open 3s so maybe we did. stop bitching about the bench guys. its been this way all season and wont change. doesnt make a difference in the ncaa tourney anyway. will prevent us from winning the sec tourney---although a bye helps.
OK, fair enough but I did a search on aaron rodgers to make sure I wasn't forgetting anything and that thread didn't come up (at least that i saw).
